I still remember what it was like—balancing school, a job, and everything in between. Working through high school taught me responsibility, grit, and the value of every dollar earned. It wasn’t always easy, but it shaped who I am today. That kind of work ethic sticks with you—and it’s exactly the spirit that keeps America moving forward.

Seeing businesses like Bojangles recognize their student employees reminds me just how important that journey is.

Congratulations to this year’s graduates who didn’t just finish school—they did it while working hard. That’s something to be proud of!

I’m thankful Governor Henry McMaster signed tort reform bill H3430 into law on May 28. Though the final version was watered down, it’s a step toward fixing South Carolina’s broken tort system.

I commend Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey and others who led the charge to make our civil justice system fair for all. Unfortunately, some—including Senator Luke Rankin—worked to weaken this bill. I encourage Horry County voters to watch Senator Rankin’s remarks and decide for themselves.

Tort reform remains a top priority for me. Victims deserve fair compensation—nothing more, nothing less—and only from those truly at fault.

Throughout this debate, much has been said about victims of drunk and impaired drivers. Harsher DUI penalties are long overdue. Reckless driving is not just a mistake—it is a choice, and personal responsibility must be restored in both our courts and culture.

As always, I remain committed to the people of Horry County and to building a stronger, safer, and more just South Carolina.
