Today is National POW/MIA Day.

The letters stand for Prisoners of War/Missing in Action, and remind us that not everyone who was deployed made it home. While we always keep our Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in our hearts and minds, this is a day set aside for the greater public to honor them while reflecting on their sacrifice. We shall not rest until they are all accounted for.

Some of the ways you can honor Prisoners of War and remember those Missing in Action today include adding a Missing Man Table to your Post and Auxiliary events, teaching children about the Missing Man Table through the picture book America's White Table, flying the POW/MIA flag, familiarizing yourself with the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and sharing the information shared by the VFW - their 2024 article about this day is linked below.

We lost another member of our VFW family yesterday. Rest easy, Mike. 🕊️

The family of Michael Ray Love, age 72, of Moulton, will host a Memorial Gathering from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel. Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

Mr. Love, who died Sunday, September14, 2025, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born June 9, 1953, in Alabama to William Ray Love and Doris Louise Gunn Love. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Susan Porter.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Ennis Love; son, Michael Ray Love, II; daughter, Jennifer Nicole Love Hudson (Brandon); stepson, Jason Formby; stepdaughter, Ashley Formby; sister, Beth Love Terry; seven grandchildren, Chandler Love (Mikayla), Morgan Love, Chloe Love, Alexa Ray (Blake), Ava Hudson, Kenzie McKimmon, and Jude Carter; and three great-grandchildren, Rigsby Love, Rylan Love, and Blesyn Love.
