Alvord coach Matt Fanning turned the Bulldogs (9-3, 6-0) around in his first season, earning an unbeaten league title and collecting a gold ball trophy with the program.

ICYMI: Decatur senior Bralyn Peck officially inked an offer sheet with Oklahoma State University during a signing ceremony held Nov. 17 inside Decatur High School's gym.

En route to leading the Lady Eagles to their first state championship, Peck was selected as the 2025 TABC 4A Player of the Year, 4A Division I state tournament MVP, All-Wise MVP and Wise County Messenger Female Athlete of the Year.

In 2024, Paradise barely escaped Jim Ned with a win in the third round of the playoffs.

This year, the Panthers made a statement in the 3A Division I regional semifinals in a rematch against the Indians. After giving up a first quarter touchdown, Paradise (12-1) fortified its already-elite defense to post a shutout over the next three periods and leave Abilene with a 27-7 Black Friday victory.

Alvord turned a blowout into a nail-biter after reeling off 16 points in a matter of seconds late against the Price Carlisle Indians at Ennis High School Friday night.

But a timely punch by a Carlisle defender forced a turnover that proved to be the final blow, knocking out the Bulldogs 41-23 in the area round.
