Back before catalogs and reps with photos on an iPad, supply companies built fully functional, miniature versions of their barber chairs, ceramic, metal, every lever and recline mechanism working exactly like the real thing, and sent salesmen shop to shop with them so barbers could see (and test) exactly what they’d be buying before committing to the real one.
