The Immigrant Liberty Awards celebrates immigrants and exceptional advocates in the community and is a fundraiser that supports RMIAN’s critical work fighting for justice for individuals, families, and children in immigration proceedings in Colorado.
Christina Yutai Guo’s career as a journalist and her service-dedicated spirit predate her immigration to the US in 1987 from Taipei, Taiwan. In Taipei, she worked as a reporter interested in providing accurate and accessible information to the public. In 2006, Ms. Guo founded Asian Avenue magazine, a monthly print publication that highlights the stories of Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in Colorado. Alongside her work in journalism, she has always been passionate about serving her community and has served in leadership roles with the Chinese American Council of Colorado and Denver Chinese Culture Center. In 2009, she founded the 501c3 Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network to provide cultural education programs such as leadership conferences for AAPI youth and student exchange programs with students from China. In 2012, she also started the Rocky Mountain Chinese Weekly 大丹佛時報, a newspaper that provides news to Denver’s Chinese community. Shortly thereafter, she established a weekly Mandarin Chinese radio program, Colorado Chinese Radio Network, with KGNU Community Radio.
