All good things must come to an end… to make room for what’s next.
Five years ago, I started planting seeds for what would become Perception Records. I was 22, fresh out of college, and in the darkest period of my life. Making records was the only reason I woke up in the morning.
What began as the most DIY, independent label imaginable, in a basement of my friends house in December of 2019, slowly turned into something far bigger than I ever planned. As I grew, the team grew, and the vision grew.
A huge part of that journey happened in Denver. The Mile High City gave us our first real community, our earliest believers, and the space to experiment, fail, and find our voice. It will always be part of Perception’s DNA.
As we close the first chapter of Perception Records, we’re doing so with gratitude and clarity. We’ve made the decision to officially close our Denver office and move forward all in on our Los Angeles operation.
More importantly, our mission has never been clearer.
Perception exists to create beautiful, authentic records through a more focused and intentional process. As we enter this next era, our energy is centered on in-house, curated productions built the old way, with real instruments, analog equipment, studio musicians, and tape, while still embracing the most forward-thinking creative technology of the present. We believe in the power of human perspective and the impact of the human story, and Perception is a mechanism for those stories to be told.
With this clarity comes focus... Los Angeles is now home base. In 2026, we’ll open the doors to the next chapter of Perception Records: a purpose-built recording studio, designed intentionally for the way we believe records should be made along with many other huge announcements to come.
Thank you, Denver.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this first chapter.
The best is yet to come.
