TRACK 6: WHAT YOU CAME FOR!
The final track closes the EP with sharp satire aimed directly at the music industry and the illusions it sells. The background vocals whisper empty promises the same hollow phrases most artists hear, chase, and eventually get trapped by. They glitter, but they’re worthless, echoing the truth that not everything shining in this industry is gold.
The title itself is a jab at the culture of surface‑level consumption. “What You Came For” calls out the average listener who shows up expecting hype, ego, and false fulfillment. If you listen closely, those promises repeat over and over pointless, recycled, and intentionally shallow. Then the beat switches. A stronger voice cuts through the noise, rising above the lies and signaling the moment the listener steps onto higher ground. It’s the sound of clarity breaking through deception, a reminder that you’re too valuable to fall for the world’s empty words.
Vertex chose to end the EP here because depression attacks the mind in the same way the industry attacks the artist through confusion, temptation, and false hope. The entire project mirrors the emotional turbulence of real life: the highs, the lows, the internal battles, the spiritual pressure. But beneath every rise and fall, one message stays unshaken: Jesus is the way. With Him, every obstacle can be overcome, every lie exposed, and every trap escaped.
