In the last day, we've learned that Roe v. Wade has been put on the chopping block or perhaps, you'd prefer we say a noose has been slid around her neck?
It doesn't really matter if we're in England or in Salem now, women's rights are undermined in this moment and every moment -- our safety sacrificed by the dissenting concern of some conservative man elected by a body of his peers, all whom echo his own sentiments of power and control over the bodies and rights of WOMEN. And isn't that how history repeats itself? Again and again?
I wish RBG was here to tell us what to do, to tell us how to fight when we feel so POWERLESS.
Am I the only mother that cares about the hundreds of thousands of eggs in my daughter's body that I carried before her, some that could look like me, but all that are HER CHOICE?
And those years of decisions ahead of her, how will I protect them so that she has the RIGHT to CHOOSE? I was abandoned by the father of my child when I decided to keep the baby, I almost died in postpartum multiple times thinking I'd never see the light of happiness again, I filed bankruptcy to survive the decision to keep my child, and I carry over $100k in student loan debt on the opposite hip of my four year old child. I have been through HELL and back in this parenting journey.
And I stand here, wishing, hoping, praying, BEGGING that someone, anyone, can help the women in the United States now. Don't force women and girls down paths some of us barely survived.
