Also, if you travel somewhere geographically south of where you live, but higher in elevation, do you say you’re going up or down to that place?? I feel like either is technically accurate, but want to know what the consensus is!🙈

Little family hike at the Lunch Loooops✨🏜️🥾

We logged 4 miles on the trail, which was my longest postpartum hike yet!

My only real fitness goal at the moment is to get back into hiking shape so I feel strong enough to hike with Silas on my own this summer after William goes back to work.

I spent a ton of time walking throughout my pregnancy and really ramped things up in the third trimester in the hopes that Silas would like movement outside of the womb.

He LOVES to be in his carrier and naps better while hiking (and driving) than he does at home, so I think my plan paid off!✨

You don’t want to miss this state park in western Colorado!✨💦

📍Rifle Falls State Park

I ordinarily don’t like to use the phrase “hidden gem,” but Rifle Falls fits the bill pretty well.

It’s not “hidden” in the sense that it’s unknown (it’s literally a state park), but it is tucked away in a canyon that you probably wouldn’t happen to just stumble upon, and as you can see, it’s quite the gem!

The main attractions are obviously the waterfalls, but there are also a few hiking trails and limestone caves/caverns you can explore.🥾

What to know about visiting:

💸 Admission fee: $10/vehicle or use a Colorado state parks pass

🐶 Dogs are allowed, but must be leashed.

🏕️ There are walk-in tent campsites ($28/night) and campsites with electric hookups ($36/night) available (book in advance).

🫶🏼 Remember to practice Leave No Trace if you visit by staying out of closed areas and packing out all of your trash!

A peek inside our camp kitchen kit!✨🏕️🍴

One update since I filmed this a few years ago: the Eureka camp stove completely broke after just over a year of use (one burner went out first, then the second one went out), so we replaced it with a Coleman U.S.A. 2-burner stove!

Baby’s first national park!✨🏜️🥾👶🏼

I’ve been keeping a running list of different places that I think would good to visit with a baby for the past few years and the Windows/Turret Arch/Double Arch area of Arches National Park was high on the list.📋

The trails require limited hiking, they’re well developed, and there are trash cans at the trailhead for easy dirty diaper disposal (we’ve been using dog p**p bags to pack them out in the event of a mid-hike change).🗑️

The South Window also unexpectedly provided some nice shade and a convenient place to nurse!🍼

We also wanted to hit Sand Dune Arch, but learned that the cardinal rule of adventuring with a baby is that everything is going to take longer than you expect, so we didn’t have time to squeeze that in this trip.🥾

Ultimately, it was a great opportunity to get our feet wet with hiking and adventuring with our little dude!👶🏼

Costa Rica Babymoon pt. 2✨🤰🏻🌙🦥

Spent the second half of our trip in Costa Rica chasing waterfalls around La Fortuna.🌋

The forecast originally called for rain/thunderstorms our entire trip, but we ended up lucking out with gorgeous weather (the rainy season technically “ends” at the end of November, so we cut it close visiting the first week of December).☀️

I still have a ton of photos to pull from my camera and edit from this portion of the trip, but here’s a little taste of the adventure!🥾💦
