Guests booking an all-inclusive Sitka Alaska fishing charter for May or June 2026 with 4 or more anglers will receive a FREE Guided Angler Fish (GAF) tag. It’s a great option for anglers hoping to legally keep a larger halibut.

“Pipeline Collapsing”? How About Activist Interference?
This article perfectly illustrates why Coloradans are loosing faith in Colorado’s wolf program—not because we oppose wildlife conservation, but because this piece celebrates exactly what’s wrong: prioritizing ideology over science-based management.
The author frames the “collapsing pipeline” of new wolves as a crisis while glossing over the real crisis: repeated violations of its own management plan and total disregard for the people living with the consequences. Notice how Marc Bekoff—an animal rights advocate, not a wildlife manager—gets prominent billing advocating for a complete no-kill policy. This isn’t science-based management; it’s emotional activism.
The North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, which Colorado voters thought they were supporting, requires sustainable populations managed through sound science and local input. Instead, wolves were released from chronically depredating packs near ranches—directly violating the plan—and relocated a wolf to Grand County without notifying ranchers or commissioners.
The article quotes Bekoff saying we should “just start negotiating with people who hate wolves” as an after thought and only after his wants, wishes and desires have been met. This reveals the true attitude: rural Coloradans don’t “hate wolves”—we oppose mismanagement, broken promises, and a program that treats us as obstacles rather than stakeholders.
Real wildlife management requires consequences for problem animals to protect both the broader population and human communities. Yellowstone’s successful program, mentioned briefly, used lethal control when necessary. That’s science. Bekoff’s “compassionate conservation” that prioritizes individual wolves over sustainable populations and rural livelihoods isn’t conservation—it’s preservation at any cost.
Colorado’s West Slope communities support wildlife management. We don’t support being lectured by activists who face none of the economic losses or safety concerns while insisting we sacrifice more.
