Second time retaping this seam and same results. I put mud down, let it dry overnight, put up tape and mudded over top. Let it dry overnight. Then put another layer of mud to start working the seam out, let it dry overnight and come out the next day to small cracks at the seam and the tape and mud peel off like I never even put mud down. Just ordered primer to put down this time around and hopefully it helps.

Ceiling drywall is short of the wall. What’s the best thing to do in this situation? The wall sheets won’t butt up to this since the gap is slightly too big. Would it be enough to pack the gap with hot mud and maybe use an inside corner bead?

Is this fixable to prevent sewer smells?
This is behind my kitchen wall in a condo.

This iron pipe is vertical and goes up to the roof 10+ stories.

I’m the only unit that drain into it - below this crack. The other units above drain into a different pipe that’s next to this one but not shown in photos.

there are no water leaks, but there is a disgusting sewer smell coming through the crack.

QUESTION: since the condo won’t replace this pipe or fix it, is sealing it up completely with foam an option to block the smell? or will that prevent proper draining below this crack (kitchen sink inmy unit).

Apartment toilet with hairline crack. Who is responsible?
Backstory: Recently moved into an apartment managed by a large company. About a week after moving in, I noticed the crack shown in the photo. I didnt notice the crack on the back of the toilet during my walkthrough and turned over the move-in condition sheet without mentioning it.

When it was noticed initially, I was going to submit a service request but for whatever reason didn't at the moment and then forgot about it. That's entirely on me for not doing it right away. At that time, I did take the photos that are with the post, which the metadata shows.

Now that I have submitted the service request with management, they are trying to blame me for damage saying I've dropped something on it to cause the crack. I would like to avoid the charges if possible and just have the service team replace or professionally fix with epoxy or something.

My questions are:

How does a crack in that specific area form?

Is this something that looks like a resident could have done or bad install/possible defect?

Do you think the pictures show someone previously attempted to fix?

If it does need to be replaced, what is a reasonable price range for it?
