Having all the aluminum wiring replaced in my house.
We haven’t had issues though our neighbors had a small fire in an outlet they were able to put out because they were home built in the 70. We have owned this home for a while and most of the outlets were correctly pig tail with wire nuts and the goop. I later moved everything over to alumaconns myself. We are having a renovation done on our kitchen and dining room which covers half our first floor anyway so I decided to add on a major overhaul. My family moved out for three weeks for this entire process. The electrician we hired did the job fast and took about 4 days to pull the wire. Another contractor is going to do all the repairs. They also are improving the lighting in my house which has always sucked.

With allumacons I was likely fine however there was always concerns with something not being done correctly. I was concerned with selling the house in the future as well. No idea if I made the right decision financially but I definitely have more peace of mind.

Can I Cut this Safely?
I have an electrical panel that I want to salvage as you can see in the second photo. I noticed there was no voltage to the box/line at all. I see that the fuse has been detached on the telephone pole (red arrow). As far as my understand goes for this type of electrical pole (hot on top neutral on bottom) everything past the transformer should be completely dead. Am I able to cut the wire in the green circle and salvage everything past that point? I don’t want to mess with the transformer or get any closer than I need.

TLDR; can I cut the wire in the green circle?

Did i do fine?I added this because I ran outlets all around the eves of my house, the 14gague is on a switch for outdoor lighting and it ties to a 15amp gfci at the main.

Contractor Left Giant Hole
I had a contractor install a new outlet in my closet for me so I can charge my vacuum and other things. They made it clear I was responsible for drywall patching, which I didn’t have a problem with… my issue is they cut out a lot more drywall than I thought was necessary. They tied into a switch directly behind where the outlet was installed. I live in Chicago where everything has to be in conduit (and I believe metal).

Is this large cut out reasonable for the job they had to do?
