Hey folks! Hope you had a good holiday weekend. We enter a new week strong stretch of summer heat. A big ridge of high pressure is expected to set up shop across the desert southwest.

This ridging extends into southern Canada, with a few areas of unsettled weather of note across parts of the central US and northwest coast of California.

This looks about as classic of a summer weather pattern as you can get with the main storm track way up in central British Columbia.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, especially along I-25 and across the northeast plains. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 PM. Expect large hail, strong winds, and a stormy evening commute for some.
More storms may arrive overnight, and Monday looks cooler with another chance for rain.

Strong to severe storms are expected this afternoon. If you're in the Denver metro, the window for severe weather is between 2 and 5 PM, with storms pushing east across the plains between 4 and 8 PM.
