Here’s your sign to not be toxic in the car scene. There’s a lot of people out there that are scared to work on cars and should be encouraged and helped. In a world where it’s normal to bring your car in for repairs, we should help people and pass down knowledge to at least learn.

Swapped out the mechanical fuel pump and went to take it on a test drive to see if that fixed my fuel issues for now. Heard a noise under the hood and the radiator cap popped off from pressure. It wasn’t up to temp yet so I know it didn’t overheat or anything. The cap doesn’t grab the radiator well, so I might have had it on slightly off center. The previous owner recently put in a new radiator, but it’s still an old cap, so I’ll just buy a new cap. It was more comical as I was going to film a test drive video when it happened 😂. Fix 1 thing, find another.

Now if only I can find a deal on a used set of 33s, so I can get the AR23 wheels on it. Why the heck did anyone make a 16.5” wheel 🤷🏻‍♂️. Other than patching the rust areas and wheels/tires, I’m not changing really anything on the exterior. I wanted the inside cleaned up, but that’s about it.

She rumbles a bit! The two big things remaining are door seals and a new mechanical fuel pump. Not sure if the fuel pump will be the fix for an issue it was having under loads (up hill and 60+), where it would just fall on its face, but I figured that’s the first thing to try. Previous owners had an electric fuel pump wired in on a switch that I feel like he used as needed for a back up. We shall see. I mostly wanted to get the interior stuff done first.

It’s been awhile since I welded anything. I’m not great at light gauge and need to practice more. Since this is the floor pan, I just lapped it and did a bunch of tack welds. Then I used body sealer and covered it up with Kilmat. Between the Kilmat and the carpets padding, you can’t tell. The underside I did body sealer where I could, and will spray it with some rubber undercoating stuff, just to keep rust from forming.
