This week I made a secret quick trip back to Denver. While in town I got to see a final dress rehearsal of The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes. This show was the fun re-introduction to theatre I didn’t know I needed in my life. I walked in not knowing anything about this obscure musical but walked out looking up the soundtrack. It delivered a unique story, heart warming message and more theatrical references than I could count.

Abigail Kochevar shines as Maggie. She not only does she show off her incredible dance skills but brings depth to scenes that otherwise would have felt as filler. She bring her talent to the table and elevates those around her.

Brian Adams plays a lovable and lost leading man who despite trying to convince the world and himself he’s moved on from his ex-girlfriend clearly hasn’t.

One actress I couldn’t keep my eyes off was Lindsey Kinney. Every time this powerhouse performer walked on the stage she commanded it instantly.

Director Keith Rabin Jr. has found ways to use the limited spacing and resources of the The People's Building to bring this production back to the heart of theatre, raw storytelling. He has crafted moments that allow, not only the actors, but the band and technical elements to be the vehicle that drives the story.

If you can get out to see this show I would highly recommend it. It’s definitely worth the trip.

Well, we did it…we survived the pandemic and we made a musical. Tonight we open The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes. The biggest little show you’d ever want to know. A special thank you to and for creating this show. We just love it so much and you can bet you will see another K&D masterpiece on our stages again. Dear cast and crew, you made this show amazing and now we get to celebrate. The world is going to love you.

In 2016 we had the pleasure of interviewing and watching Amy Kress perform. Last night we learned that she passed away.

Kress was a local musician and mother, in addition to many other things. She was a soul that we only had the pleasure of working with once but was one of our favorites.

A service is planned for Saturday, January 19 at Marnie’s Pavillion at the Denver Botanical Gardens, from 2:30 to 4:30pm. All are welcome to attend. The gardens are free for all who wish to attend Amy’s service.

In lieu of flowers, it has been asked to donate, in Amy’s name, to Foothills Animal Shelter or the animal rescue organization of your choice.

Thank you for the music Amy.
