I love finding old letters in vintage albums. There’s so much rich history behind the music, but the real gem is the knowledge that this album meant the world to someone at some point. In this instance, that someone meant the world to someone else, and gifted a treasured album with a special message written inside…
“To Darling Dave,
I thought I’d write in here – just a little note! I hope you enjoy this album. Remember me, lovingly I hope, when you listen to this fantastic album. I’ll always remember the “Nights in White Satin” just as you wanted me to. When you go on your way and leave me darling, think of me once in a while. Now that you are graduating and going out into the cruel world, I know you’ll succeed. And darling if I know, someday our dreams will come true, we’ll make it yet! We will have our Londons, Romes, Paris’, and Monte Carlos! When you feel sad and lonely just remember darling, I love you. I’ll never forget the good times we’ve had and I hope there’ll be many many more. I can’t help but think of the day I started crying. Well, before I start all over again I’ll end this short note!”
