Castle Rock & Colorado Springs now at a 2/10 for strong to severe thunderstorms as the Marginal Risk has been extended down into these areas!
Severe storms are still expected later this evening across Northeastern Colorado!

A quite unusual set up for strong to severe thunderstorms will take shape later today across eastern Colorado, mainly up in north eastern Colorado where a small Slight Risk for large hail up to 2”, damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and an isolated tornado or two may be possible!

Elsewhere across NE Colorado and the northern I25 corridor, a Marginal Risk for hail up to 1”, wind gusts up to 55mph and an isolated tornado may be possible!
Yes, this does include the Denver metro area!

The strongest stoms SHOULD remain confined up in northeastern Colorado. However, widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the region today!

CONFIRMED TORNADO IN MONTEZUMA COUNTY IN SOUTH WESTERN COLORADO!!!

NWS:

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Southwestern Dolores County in southwestern Colorado... Northwestern Montezuma County in southwestern Colorado... East central San Juan County in southeastern Utah...

* Until 245 PM MDT.

* At 209 PM MDT, a confirmed tornado was located 18 miles north of Aneth, or 26 miles southeast of Blanding, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Emergency management confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Dolores, northwestern Montezuma and east central San Juan Counties, including the following locations... Hovenweep National Monument.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

Heads up today!
A Marginal Risk has been issued for basically the entire state of Colorado minute a small portion of northwestern Colorado for strong to severe thunderstorms!
Hail up to 1” in diameter may be possible across the entire region as well as damaging wind gusts up to 60MPH across the majority of eastern Colorado as well as extreme western Colorado bordering Utah

Storms are likely after noon across the I25 corridor and more specifically after 2pm in the Denver metro area!
