On this day, 32 years ago, legendary influential group Above the Law dropped their classic debut studio album on Ruthless Records

LIVIN’ LIKE HUSTLERS

an advanced promo cassette version was released two months earlier.

The album was produced by Dr. Dre, LayLaw and Above the Law and featured a guest performance from N.W.A on “The Last Song”.

Eazy-E served as executive producer.

It peaked at number 14 on the Top Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and number 75 on the Billboard 200.

album included two hit singles “Murder Rap” and “Untouchable”, which both charted at number one on the Hot Rap Songs.

The album’s lead single, “Murder Rap”, also peaked at number 41 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales.

In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source’s 100 Best Rap Albums Ever.

WC & the M.A.D.D. Circle was a West Coast hip-hop group formed in the early 1990s. The group was fronted by rapper WC (William Calhoun Jr.) and included DJ Crazy Toones (his brother), rapper Coolio, and producer Sir Jinx. Their music was known for its gritty, street-oriented lyrics and heavy beats, contributing to the West Coast rap scene.

Their debut album, "Ain't a Damn Thang Changed", released in 1991,
was well-received in the hip-hop community. The album's sound reflected the West Coast style prevalent during that era and included tracks that highlighted the realities of life in South Central Los Angeles.

One of their most notable singles, "Dress Code", addressed the issue of gang violence and the pressures of conforming to certain dress styles within the community. The song helped establish WC & the M.A.D.D. Circle's reputation for addressing social issues in their music.

While the group didn't achieve mainstream commercial success compared to some of their West Coast contemporaries, WC & the M.A.D.D. Circle gained respect within the hip-hop community for their authenticity and contributions to the genre's evolution during the early '90s.
