😰 I almost missed the opening shot.

I only had the drone in the air for 30 seconds when the security guard at Coors Field asked me kindly to return it to the ground.

I was happy to oblige, but as a licensed drone pilot, I knew I wasn't doing anything illegal. If it were anyone else, they might have missed the shot altogether.

But I learned a thing about filming with a drone: *Always hit record BEFORE takeoff*

You never know when THAT moment is going to happen, and memory cards are cheap. So lucky for me, in spite of only being in the air for a minute total, I was already filming as I flew back towards the baseball diamond.

Later in the morning, I received permission to launch from outside the property and try again... but I already had the shot!

It's a tiny part of this sizzle video, but I'm so glad we were able to capture that moment, setting the stage for a fun, energetic Bisnow event in Denver.

Check out the full sizzle, and be sure to crank the music! 🎶

This is 48.

Ten years ago, I was alone in an airport and traveling for work when I saw a tall, older man stroll by. At probably more than twice my age, he looked healthier and more fit than I, and without a care in the world.

As a tall guy, you notice things like… hmmm, I don’t see many tall, older guys walking around. (Yikes!) So when you do see one, and he’s in great shape, it really does stand out.

On that day, inspired by a man I’ll never get to meet, I decided I not only wanted to get back in shape, but also that I wanted to be healthier and more fit at 50 than I would be at 40… certainly much better than 38.

I’ve had many stops and starts, but I quickly lost some unwanted pounds, eating low-carb (mostly keto), started lifting, and eventually started running.

And as I sit here on my birthday, with 50 only two years away, I’m more committed than ever to keep this going—to 50 and beyond!

Oh, and I chopped all my hair off. I’m donating it to locks of love. If you’d like to kick in a donation, I’ll leave the facebook fundraiser info in the comments below!

Not all business networking events are created equally... but this week’s Denver Sports & Entertainment event at was a blast!

What they got right:
✅ A homerun location @ Coors Field ⚾️
✅ High-energy starting lineup of speakers
✅ Plenty of networking timeouts to meet fellow attendees

(Oh, and they got me to capture the event—photo, video & drone)

Here are a handful of my fav captures... keep an eye out next week for the sizzle video.

Corporate headshots don’t have to be dull and lacking personality.

I’ve shared this before but after working in marketing for as long as I have, I’ve seen my fair share of less than awesome headshots. Heck, I’ve had a few bad ones myself.

One of the biggest challenges is getting “you” to shine through in the final shots. It’s not as simple as it sounds. When you show up for your headshot, perhaps dressed more formally than you ordinarily would. You’re nervous. You’re far from at ease. And then you sit down between a few lights and a nosey camera lens.

It’s enough to make anyone a little uncomfortable.

Want to try something different? How about this:

Dress like you normally do. Wear something that makes you feel great, down to your shoes, even if you’re only doing a headshot.

Every headshot doesn’t need a big cheesy smile, or even direct eye contact. Work with the photographer to capture your personality, and maybe you’ll be surprised by where you end up.

Do you have any other headshot tips? Let me know what you think.

These are a few samples of headshots I created for the team at in NYC. Outside of being an incredibly photogenic team, they’ve been a joy to collaborate with.

It’s that time of year in Colorado when the aspen trees begin showing off… and I think was getting jealous.

Yesterday we had a gorgeous day for the tour of new and updated real estate throughout downtown Denver, capped off by the new aspen tree-inspired design of – our latest boutique hotel in the Mile High City.

Designed by the visionaries Populous continues its aspen theme throughout the various floors and spaces, including a show-stopping balcony (that I can’t wait to come back and photograph with the drone).

They’re aiming to be open in October… still some work to be done, but it’s looking incredible. Looking forward to staying/dining here once it’s complete!

My first ever covershot opportunity was just before the world shut down in early 2020.

I was in town for a day or two, and had exactly one January morning available to get my drone up at sunrise to capture a few images of the the brand new IU Health Joe & Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center building

If you know how tricky winter weather can be in Indiana, then you know how unlikely it is that the conditions might have yielded gorgeous morning light and blue skies.

It was a last-second addition to the issue before it went to print, so I wasn’t even sure it was going to be used, but it was a thrill to see it in print.

How many looks can you get from one studio lighting setup?

One of my favorite reasons to shoot in the studio is how quickly you can get a totally different look by moving lights a touch or swapping outfits.

This shoot was with my sis, and we got her a ton of options for social media in just over an hour.

Which setup fits your vibe best?
