63,004 people packed Empower Field for Denver Summit FC’s home opener — breaking the NWSL single-game attendance record and making it pretty clear this city was ready.

Girls in shirts walked onto the field hand-in-hand with the starting lineup. Malala Yousafzai was there. The whole thing ended in a tie and nobody cared.

Writer was there for it. Her piece on what the moment meant — for Denver, for girls in sports, and for what’s coming next at Santa Fe Yards — is in our May issue and linked in bio.

Paige Dungan spent nearly two decades in book publicity — making sure writers got noticed, and helping readers find their next favorite voice.

Then a different pull took over. She wanted a real place. Somewhere books felt alive.

So she opened Little Blue Pigeon Books on Larimer Square, named for a Eugene Field poem she’s loved since she was a kid. A corner spot where strangers become regulars and the right book always finds the right person.

We sat down with Paige for our May issue — on curation, community, and the books she’s pressing into everyone’s hands right now.

Twenty years. Twenty-six miles. One legendary street.

Race weekend is here, and our May feature ‘Laced With History’ is the read to get you in the spirit — whether you’re racing, cheering, or just planning to collect your brats and beer at the finish line.

Writer Seth Davis traces how a scrappy regional experiment born in Mayor Hickenlooper’s office grew into a 27,000-runner celebration with drag queens, a literal zoo safari mile, and a $10 million charity engine underneath it all.

Some rooms just feel different. Yesterday’s My Bold Future Luncheon with Girls Inc. of Metro Denver was one of them.

But honestly…it wasn’t about us. It was about the girls in that room who are doing, and who are going to do remarkable things.

Scholarships awarded. Futures celebrated. Hundreds of Denver community members showing up for something that genuinely matters.

We left inspired, and proud to be a sponsor of such an impactful event, and even prouder community members.

Thank you

And thank you to our incredible team and partners who joined us for the afternoon, and made our sponsorship possible.

May is absolutely stacked. Here’s what’s on our radar for the next few weeks — from 26.2 miles to free jazz in Five Points.

May 13 · Baby Goat Night at New Terrain Brewing
Guided goat hikes with a dozen miniature goats of various ages and sizes. Small groups get one-on-one time with the babies in a fenced area — honestly, a solid Tuesday. Tickets $40 general / $30 members / $10 students, includes garden admission.

May 15–17 · Denver Colfax Marathon
Denver’s biggest running weekend turns 20 this year. Eight races over two days, including the only marathon and half marathon that runs through Denver Zoo. Choose your distance — or do both days with the Mile High Two Day Challenge.

May 15–17 · Josh Johnson at Comedy Works South
Emmy-nominated Daily Show correspondent and stand-up Josh Johnson hits the stage for a weekend run in Greenwood Village. Wickedly sharp. Worth every minute.

May 22 · Electronic Orchestra at The Fillmore
Live, electronic, and dance music collide at the Fillmore Auditorium for a night that doesn’t fit neatly in a box. That’s a good thing. Tickets at fillmoredenver.com.

May 23 · Said the Sky at Mission Ballroom
Colorado’s own Trevor Christensen brings his layered, instrument-forward sound to one of Denver’s best rooms. A wholly original show from a genuinely gifted artist.

June 5 · First Friday Jazz in the Park
Free jazz every first Friday through October at Sonny Lawson Park, 5:30–7 p.m. Food trucks, live sets, and the best reason to linger in Five Points on a Friday evening.

June 6 · Blooms & Buzz Wash Park East Garden Tour
The second annual garden tour from highlights drought-tolerant landscaping, pollinator habitats, and homegrown produce — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A very good Saturday morning.

Bodies: The Science Within — Opens May 15 at Denver Pavilions. A nationally touring exhibition making its U.S. debut right here in Denver, using real preserved human specimens to take you through how the body works. Run through June 28.

April Cover Shoot 📸

There’s something that happens when a room full of people genuinely trust each other… the camera catches it whether you’re ready or not. That’s what Daniel Brenner walked into, and that’s what he pulled out of every frame.
This one was less of a shoot and more of a conversation. The LotusGroup team brought the warmth, Daniel brought the eye, and MyDenver did what it does best, let the story tell itself.
April issue. Out now.
