OSU starting slow again cost them. Oline play has been terrible. Miami came to play. Last year all the teams that had a bye week lost this round. Maybe NCAA should move these games up sooner and have the tops have a home field advantage? Especially with it going to 16 teams in 3 years.

Thoughts?

Detroit’s draft could go two very different directions.

Best-case scenario: Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey.
Detroit still needs help up front, and adding another pass rusher to that defensive line would make a real difference. Speed, pressure, and depth are all things this defense could use more of.

Worst-case scenario: Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles.
Pairing him with Jack Campbell would absolutely help against the run, and Styles’ background as a safety gives him the athleticism to match up with faster players in space.

Both picks make sense in different ways — but they say very different things about how the Lions see their defense moving forward.

Which direction would you rather see Detroit go?

Why the Arizona Cardinals Taking Ty Simpson Would Shake Up the Entire Draft

If the Arizona Cardinals take Ty Simpson in the first round, it would instantly become one of the most polarizing picks of the draft and not because Simpson lacks talent.

It’s because of what the pick represents.

Simpson has long been viewed as a quarterback with upside rather than inevitability. The tools are there: athleticism, arm strength, and the ability to extend plays. But he’s also been widely projected as a player teams could potentially target later in Round 1 or even early Day 2, depending on how the board falls.

That perception is exactly why an Arizona selection would create chaos.

The Ripple Effect on QB Needy Teams

Quarterback-needy teams draft with tiers in mind, not just names. Many front offices may view Simpson as part of a second quarterback tier a player they believe they can afford to wait on. If Arizona pulls the trigger early, that entire tier suddenly collapses.

Teams that planned to sit tight are forced into uncomfortable decisions:
• Trade up sooner than expected
• Pivot to a quarterback they like less
• Or abandon the position altogether and reset their timeline

Draft rooms hate uncertainty. This pick would introduce it immediately.

Why Arizona Could Justify the Move

From Arizona’s perspective, the logic is defensible.

Simpson wouldn’t be asked to save the franchise overnight. He could develop behind an established starter, learn the system, and give the Cardinals a long-term contingency plan without the pressure of immediate expectations. In a league where quarterback security is everything, drafting upside early can be a calculated hedge rather than a gamble.

It’s not about where Simpson is projected it’s about beating the market.

The Real Story Isn’t the Player It’s the Timing

This wouldn’t be a headline because Simpson went in the first round. It would be a headline because of when he went.

Draft history is full of examples where one unexpected quarterback pick triggers a run, forces panic trades, and reshapes the rest of the night. Arizona selecting Simpson early would send a clear signal to the rest of the league: waiting is no longer safe.

And once that happens, the draft stops following mocks and starts following fear.

Final Thought

Whether Ty Simpson ultimately becomes a franchise quarterback or not almost feels secondary to the moment itself. If Arizona makes this move, the draft doesn’t just change it accelerates.

And the teams that assumed patience was an option may be the ones left scrambling.
