Our first batch of Ross x Bresse chicks hatched this past Thursday 🐣

Excited to see how these guys grow in comparison to the popular meat bird breeds.

Ultimate goal is a sustainable meat bird that we don’t have to buy (and ship) every year that still has fast growth like Ross and Cornish Cross, but better vigor and vitality.

Excited to see how the next 8 weeks go.

Drum roll please 🥁

These little stinkers finally have names 📣

Keeping with our Disney theme for the year 🏰

Destin’s calf has been named Sully ➡️ Monsters Inc.

Lulu’s calf has been named Nemo ➡️ Finding Nemo

I have to give credit to my husband for Nemo’s name. . While we were looking for him last Sunday morning he said we should name him Nemo, like Finding Nemo. Get it?

Haha! Yes. Good one babe 😆

This stinker gave us quite the scare this morning when he went missing 🕵️

Not in the shelter and nowhere to be found in the back pasture.

We took off looking for him, Emma and I on the ranger and Eli on the ATV. We have 3 line poly rope on the back pasture and I was scared he’d slipped under the bottom line and wandered off onto the neighbors property. After about 20 minutes we finally found him on the other side of the back pasture that’s currently fenced off, so he slipped under one of the lines.

I’m not sure how long he was out there by himself but we got him back to Lulu and he got a dose of Last Stand.

He seems tired but overall okay. They’ll be confined to the front for now 🫠

Lulu had a sweet little bull calf this afternoon 💙

I checked on her around 4 pm after the downpour we got and we went back out around 7 and there he was, all cleaned up and walking around 🖤

It’s always such a relief once they’ve calved and my nerves can calm down a bit. She nearly gave me a heart attack earlier today when I went to check on her. She was laid out in the shelter, didn’t flinch when I walked in and eyes nearly rolled to the back of her head. Had my phone out getting ready to speed dial my vet thinking my favorite cow was dying. . Then I patted her, called her name and she je**ed up. . So no, not dying, I just clearly interrupted her afternoon nap 🫠

Mama and baby are both doing well and we are tickled for the new addition 😊🫶🏻

Another sweet baby left for her new home today 🏡

Maisey left this morning for her new home in Hardy, VA.

I couldn’t be happier with her new home 💜 Maisey is joining several other highland heifers similar in age that she’ll get to grow up and bond with 💜

Monty shenanigans 🤪

I swear this boy has a toddler brain and the raging hormones of a teenager 🫠

Doing anything around him takes twice as long because he’s in the middle of everyyything

I’d been standing there for at least 10 minutes waiting for him to leave ⏰

He finally decided that I was no fun and walked away 😆
