I'm on vacation in Scotland and I found my house hippo in a charity shop in Inverness. It posed for a photo along the River Ness, and now it will accompany me to Orkney, Ullapool, Oban, Edinburgh, and then back home to Alaska.

Yesterday we visited our local Goodwill here in Virginia where this gorgeous lamp was for sale (it’s called a lotus lamp). I instantly fell in love with it but couldn’t justify spending an extra $50 on myself when we’re currently saving up for future expenses. I told my parents about it and my dad went back today while I was at work and surprised me with it when I got home. From my research, it’s from the 80s. I absolutely love it! Sorry, I don’t have a banana around for scale.

I found my house hippo on Valentine’s Day at Goodwill! He was 8.98. I was shopping on Valentine’s Day because I had to have the day off work due to mouth surgery, what a terrific present to myself! Who can tell me the Canadian story about the house hippo?

You'll have to take my word on this because I can't prove it otherwise 😂. My mom painted this pumpkin when I was a little girl. I'm 43 now so at least 35 years ago. It was a set of 3. She donated them quite a few years ago. Today I found one of them in my local Goodwill. I messaged her to show her and she says she believes this is one of the ones she painted. She had added the googly eyes to them back then and I specifically remember them being in this same location and so does she. I would find it hard to believe that someone did the same pumpkin and placed the googly eyes in the same spot. I was so excited to find it!!

I took my kids thrift shopping this weekend and my daughter found this Cabbage Pig by Homegrown Pets. It’s adorable! I’m always showing her the cool things on this page and she couldn’t wait for me to share her find! Found at Goodwill in Washington State.
