Bed bugs? We checked for bed bugs when we got into our hotel room in Fiji but didn't find anything.

I got mosquito bites, sea lice bites, heat rash during our trip. Now I got these suspicious looking triangle bites and hope that these are NOT bed bug bites but anything else.

Please tell me that there are other bug bites like this. I got more of these triangle bites on my back, neck, both hands and both legs.

HELP!! Are these bedbug bites or something else? About two weeks ago I joined a new Pilates studio and we used equipment that went behind our neck and several days later my posterior neck had small pinpoint bumps that would occasionally itch. I didn’t think much of it and figured it was some kind of contact dermatitis.

However, one week later I woke up and my worst/forearm was severely itchy. I kept itching it and realized the itchy area was turning into small bumps. I have had scabies once before in high school and this is not the same. I’ve torn apart my entire bedroom/bed and have not seem any bedbugs/shed shells/ excrement or eggs.

I’m going on one week and my wrist has become less itchy. In total I had about 24 bumps/bites on my wrist. I haven’t had any new lotions or perfumes and I don’t wear jewelry or a watch on this wrist.

The pictures are in order of the progression from the first day until now.

First, are these bedbugs bites? And if so what do I do if I can’t find any signs of the them?? Is it possible my neck rash is different than my wrist rash?

rashes on my leg Hey! So a few days ago I noticed a palm sized rash on my right leg. It didn’t hurt at all, wasn’t itchy, so I kind of ignored it. It may have been caused by heat, I’m not a 100% sure about that, but before I noticed the rash I was sitting next to a quartz heater and it felt like my leg was on fire even though I wasn’t sitting directly next to it. So the first picture is how it started, but by today morning it started to spread up to my knee, that’s visible on the second picture. I went to see a doctor today but something tells me it’s going to be a longer procedure and 1-2 appointment probably won’t be enough to figure out what’s really causing the rashes, that’s why posted it here, so maybe I get some answers sooner. It’s not swollen, not itching, not hurting, that’s why I think it’s not an allergic reaction or anything like that, I think that’s something about my veins and the only thing I can think of is that the heat caused it, because nothing unusual happened to my leg in the last few days. I thought it would go away on its own after a few days, but visibly it has gotten worse. If anyone had the same condition, I would appreciate your opinion about it, or if you have any idea what’s behind it, please share your thoughts with me. If you have any questions connected to this issue, I’d be happy to answer.

I'm in desperate need of advice - undiagnosed after 1 year, seen 30+ specialists...still a medical mystery. Am really losing hope and need the brilliant minds of Reddit! What do you do when there's nowhere left to turn???

31F - perfectly healthy until last September. Symptoms started with swelling in one finger, transgressed to edema / soft tissue like swelling on my hands, swollen palms, knees, ankles that look like donuts, lumps of soft tissue around my feet, SEVERE nonstop mottling, etc. I was initially misdiagnosed with inflammatory arthritis / autoimmune disease and put on immunosuppressants for 6+ months. Reacted so horribly to biologics ended up in the ER twice. Bloodwork was always 100% normal, negative ANA and low inflammation markers etc. MRIs come out, show no signs of synovial fluid or joint inflammation. 5 rheumatologists later.. am told but I've known all along, I don't have an autoimmune disease.

MRIs do show abnormalities that make zero sense though - my ankle has chronic remodeling of my ligaments, mild inflammation of my peroneal tendons (where I have A LOT of pain), inflammation/thickening of my tendon sheath. Knees show early stages of cartilage damage and edema around my kneecaps. Skin biopsies are weird too - subtle fibrosis, increased vessel counts with some RBC leakage into my tissue, some inflammation of my WBC, mild mucin in dermis, and dilated blood vessels. Aligns well with what I see on my skin....broken capillaries, bruises everywhere on a daily basis, clusters of small blood spots. Vasculitis has been ruled out. Veinous Doppler was normal. Arterial Doppler shows severely diminished PVR waveforms in my feet and toes.

My BP is all over the place. Was increasing for months - would hit 160/110, then would drop to 70/40 for weeks (I'm normally ~90/70). In Feb I am hospitalized for four days from an "acute kidney infection". Goes away with a bunch of fluids, no one can explain the cause. Lots of abnormal UAs - nothing serious but consistently show protein, ketones, elevated WBC, RBC, crystals, etc. Creatine has been fine since Feb episode, though nephrologist ran adrenal testing which has been the only out of range blood work I've had in a year... very elevated aldosterone (~7x above normal levels) and absolutely normal (not low) Renin. He says I have "volume depletion" and prescribes me...salt pills. Not sure what this even means. Blood serum free norepinephrine was 3x elevated, but PET scan show no tumors. 24-hour creatine is low.

Hematology says no signs of blood clots, coagulation disorders, etc. - though their lymphocyte subset testing has been consistently out of whack. High CD8+ cells with abnormal markers (CD57+), somewhat low CD4/CD8, low-end of normal NK cells...though this deviates. I went to see ID - turns out I had untreated Lyme for a year, and caught Dengue fever (???) shortly after, right before I was put on a ton of immunosuppressants forever. Immunology has been useless when it's come to asking for more tests.... the markers I noticed were a few heme looked for in an otherwise normal flow cytometry. Found out last week I also have EBV reactivation...

Everything hurts. I can't even explain the pain - my skin throbs and burns, with weird intermittent rashes. My knees feel week and unstable, and get acutely painful after 15 min of walking. My swelling is unbearable everywhere. I can never sleep and hardly can eat.

I'm literally mottled 24/7 (absolutely not benign livedo, doesn't matter what the weather is, I am purple and blotchy). The only time it seems to sort of go away is the first 30 minutes after I get out of bed, then any movement triggers it again and I'm back to my mottled self all day. Edema is bad...knees and ankles get so bad I can't walk sometimes. I've seen every specialist I can think to see - some of the best doctors in the country. Literally no one can connect the dots. Thought Mayo was my only hope but they rejected me...noting I should see more specialists locally (I've literally seen over 30+). Got full genome sequencing done...but it's 3 months until I get the results. I have no idea what to do next. Creative minds of Reddit...please help. My doctors are too siloed in their specialties, and there is literally zero collaboration between them. I'm exhausted, hopeless, and drained. All I want is my life back.

What is this on my skin? I’ve been dealing with this (I don’t even know what to call it) skin irritation/rash for 6+ months.

It comes and goes. It’s only on my triceps and forearms. Itches like hell. Doesn’t puss. Rarely scabs over. Will go away after 4-7 days once I apply topical steroid or some form of anti-it h cream.

Maybe some important info:

work: outside, humid, 90F year-round, coastal-jungle island, plants, soil, constantly wet from rain and sweat.

mosquitoes: bitten all the time

ticks: occasionally bitten (lime-free ticks)

clothing: fully covered.

havent had allergy test yet.

using fragrance free soaps.

always had pets but never a problem before.

2 week oral steroid made it disappear.

I’ve had poison ivy years before.

skin: pretty sensitive to hard water.

I’ve been seen by the doctor 4 times. Had two skin samples done. Blood work done. No vitamin deficiency. Skin sample said form of contact dermatitis. Original visit the doctor claimed it was bacterial infection like yeast or ringworm. Then another Doctor said it didn’t look so and had to be more of an irritation. Now, doctor says maybe insect related (chiggers or scabies). No one is my house (4 people and 5 pets) have had any reactions or anything similar. Now doctor wants to order lab tests for all sorts of allergies.

Guys, Im at a loss to what this is! Anyone have any idea?

Spreading Petechiae - Normal labs thus far, what next? Developed a petechiae rash on my left foot last week, noticed it started spreading up my leg over weekend and onto right foot and leg. On Monday it started spreading to my arms and called my Doc. Went to doc and got blood tests done, she wasn't really sure what could be causing it. Haven't been outside much so unlikely tick bite. No new laundry detergents, clothes, food, etc in my environment. Blood tests showed normal / in range CBC, hemoglobin, platelets etc. Full labs in comments.

I did have petechiae once before when I was about 4. I had gotten a bloody nose and my friend was a strep carrier, strep got into my blood stream and attacked my kidneys. Diagnosed then with post streptococcal glomerulonephritis, took antibiotics and lots of tests until it cleared up.

Current medications: adderall 20mg twice a day for adhd, vitamin d2 1.25mg once a week for low vitamin d levels, folic acid 1000 mcg once a day for borderline low folate levels, vitamin b12 5000 mcg once a day for border low b12 levels. Doc suggested it maybe an allergic reaction as well, so currently taking loratadine 10mg a day to see if rash gets better.

Looking for what I should pursue for additional tests. I wouldn't be as worried if it hadn't spread so fast and wasn't continuing to spread. But it's now on top of hands and on stomach as a few more days has gone by from bloodwork on Wed.

Crazy infections and rashes and other symptoms for 2 years and no one can figure it out. Hello Reddit! Hoping someone has some ideas or input for me that may help me figure out reoccurring infections and rashes that lead to other symptoms. I am a 42 year old female. 5’10, 170 lbs. Pretty active and healthy for the most part- very picky eater so I would say that’s my only downfall. History of endometriosis and that’s really it in terms of health issues until April of 2023 when all this started.

I am self-employed. I work with my hands on a daily basis- use gloves and a respirator and explosion proof fans when spraying any products. My entire income is based on the use of my hands as I restore furniture.

I do not do drugs, I barely drink, I do smoke ci******es. I live on the water- 240’ of shoreline, large property on the border of IL and WI, wetlands and marsh on one side and thick untouched forest on the other. 2 dogs that frequently run though vegetation and than are all over me, since I’m there favorite person.

April 11 2023- Woke up with an extremely swollen left hand with cellulitis. Bullseye spot with an open sore/ necrosis on my hand. Went to the ER- was given antibiotics. ER told me it was a brown recluse bite but I question that.

April 23 2023- Another insane infection but on my right hand. Started small- worked its way into a large sore with cellulitis going down my veins and a necrotic wound again. Went to the ER and was given antibiotics.

June 18th 2023- Joints on my left fingers very swollen. Black blisters. Cellulitis- went to the ER again and the same story- they just gave me antibiotics.

Those were the initial first 3 infections. Since then I have gotten 30+ miscellaneous infections or rashes in my hands and arms along with weird symptoms that I will touch on below.

At this point I established care with my current primary since I didn’t have one since moving here in 2020. She has since referred me to many specialist.

Antibiotics all worked for the duration- usually 14 days. Infections came right back days to a week or two later. I have taken Doxycycline, Cephalexin, Cefadroxil and Fluconazole in the past. The doxy/ cephalexin combo seems to work best. I also use two topical ointments- Clobetasol and Mupirocin

I have seen an infectious disease specialist multiple times but I feel like he’s kinda given up on me at this point. I have seen a rheumatologist who ran a few tests but there was really no need to follow up based on test results. I have a primary who I see often. And I have seen an immunologist and 2 different dermatologist. I finally just got a biopsy and the results were ā€œconsistent with a dermal hypersensitivity reaction.ā€ I feel like these are the most underwhelming biopsy results ever. They did the biopsy on a patch of cellulitis and not an open sore. The dermatologist I saw recently would like to re do the biopsy on a different type of area.

***TO ME THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART- When I get one of these infections I feel like I have been hit by a bus for a few days to a week or even 2 weeks. I get extreme fatigue, a very low grade fever, unsteady, mild vertigo, headaches, extreme sensitivity to smells, brain fog or just have a hard time finding the right words. Hard core joint pain in my hips down and a lot of joint pain in my hands. Lately I have had major fatigue much more frequently. I would say the infections and rashes used to be the main issue and now it’s the symptoms. My infections have kinda morphed into rashes. I will include photos of the progression over the last 2 years of all different types that I get.

I have been tested for: -STD’s and HIV- all negative -MRSA- negative -Staph- negative -I have had a slew of other labs- happy to type them all out if it would be helpful but they are all normal except my most recent red blood cell count is high. -Basic Lyme test twice- both negative but I would love the more advanced Lyme test that tests for all types of Lyme and the co infections but it’s not really in the budget right now. That would have to be an out of pocket test. Would love to try to find a LLMD to talk to.

Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!
