Our local small business community has lost a champion.
We are heartbroken to share that our friend and fellow small business owner, Tim King, has passed away.
If you ever had the joy of tasting his food at Big daddy kings bbq, you know—he had a gift. But more than just good food, Tim brought warmth, laughter, and a true love of feeding people everywhere he went. We first met him years ago at SOAM, and what started as us just enjoying his amazing food and him commissioning custom art for his truck from our daughter quickly grew into a friendship we’ll always treasure.
Today, we remember the incredible meals, the smoky smells that pulled you in, and the way he made every customer feel like family.
Our hearts are with his wife, Hollie, and all who loved him. We’re wrapping her in all the love and support we can as she navigates this unimaginable loss.
Rest easy, friend. Your legacy will live on in every plate, every story, and every smile with those amazing blue eyes that you gave so freely.

💔 A Tremendous Loss 💔
It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved friend and SOAM vendor, Timothy King of Big daddy kings bbq.
When the news came in yesterday, we could hardly believe it...and honestly, still can’t. Tim had such a big-hearted presence, and his absence is going to be deeply felt.
Tim was a staple at SOAM and in the community - not just for his incredible BBQ, but for the man behind the smoker. He always swung by the SOAM booth to chat, make us laugh, and share a little kindness. The last words we exchanged were “See you in two SOAMs.” We remember double-checking the schedule because it felt strange that he’d be skipping a market - he rarely ever did.
Tim was the kind of person who made every space warmer, funnier, and more welcoming. He fed us with soul and served up joy just by being himself.
To his wife, Hollie - we are wrapping you in love. To Tim - we are so grateful for the light, laughter, (and legendary BBQ) you brought into our lives. You were SOAMily, and always will be.
Rest easy, Big Daddy. We’ll be thinking of you at every market, every grill, and every smile sparked by your memory. ❤️🕊️
