The Fall River Public Library Bookmobile travels to foreign lands, long gone eras, and has on-board historical figures such as: Rosa Parks, Helen Keller, Abraham Lincoln, and Larry Bird!

One year after its maiden ride, thousands of Fall River Public Schools children continue to anticipate regular visits from the library-on-wheels. Librarian Emily Parker brightened the morning for students at Frank M. Silvia School!

Yesterday afternoon, current and former students of B.M.C. Durfee gathered at Granite Grille to share their experiences in the Early College program, which was launched at the high school four years ago in partnership with three local colleges and universities.

Mayor Paul Coogan, Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley, Principal Dr. Jessica Stephens, State Representative Carole Fiola, as well as community partners joined in the Round Table discussion, which can be viewed in its entirety below!

This week, the Saint Cecilia Philharmonic Band (Banda Filarmónica Santa Cecilia) and Durfee Performing Arts Association Concert Band took the stage at the Nagle Auditorium for a special concert.

Named after the Patron Saint of Music, the Saint Cecilia Philharmonic Band is celebrating 20 years in 2025! Congratulations on two decades of beautiful music!

This morning, the Tansey Community held their monthly Town Hall & Student Awards Assembly. Principal Erek Bratt invited our camera crew for Grades 3-5. A couple of special guests from the City of Fall River Police Department were also on-hand for a Q&A with students!

The World Language Multicultural Night last week was an enormous success. Cultural Performers, as well as students and staff at Durfee High School, prepared for an educational, fun-filled night for our community, and our visitors from Porto, Portugal. It was a great night all around, and definitely one to remember.

The students at FRED-TV visited the Multicultural event yesterday to see what all the buzz was about. This incredible event was put together by the World Language department at Durfee High School, and showcased craft creations from multiple cultures, including Guatemalan dolls, French masks and Portuguese tiles. What an incredible event for our students, our community, and the students of Porto, Portugal. Great job by all! Fall River Public Schools

Movies transport us into a new world. At Viveiros Elementary, students and their families recently gathered for STEM Night at the Movies. Film-themed activities mixed the fantasy world with real-life science, technology, engineering, and math subject matter.

The staff and students at Durfee High School hosted high school students from Porto, Portugal this week. Today, the students got to experience a professional broadcast at our TV studio, operate studio cameras, learn how to direct and control the teleprompter and even be our TV Hosts for a show. We were so proud of our tv students and also our student visitors for doing such an amazing job. Kudos to each of you. And we can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow. Fall River Public Schools

Last week, our crew was invited to Henry Lord Community School for their March Student of the Month Awards. Bulldogs from Grades K through 8 were recognized for their hard work and exceptional behavior in the classroom.

One year after the tragic passing of Margaret “Peggy” McGowan, Fall River Public Schools, and those who loved her - especially school children - dedicated a plaque in her memory at the Spencer Borden Elementary School crosswalk on President Avenue.
Students from Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School were entrusted with the creation of the plaque.
