Originally from Jenkins, KY, the first town you hit when entering Kentucky from Virginia on US-23, the Country Music Highway, Jordan relocated to Farmville at the end of 2025 to be closer to family. After 16 years working as an underground coal miner, he picked up the guitar in 2020 when the world slowed down during COVID. Some dogs fetch sticks. This week's Green Front Dog of the Week fetches hearts. Meet Carson!

This handsome Chocolate Lab mix is equal parts sweet, social and adventurous. At approximately 9 months old and 35 pounds, Carson is the perfect age to join his forever family. He loves other dogs and enjoys making new friends, so he'd do well in a house with fellow canine companions.

"I heard the encyclopedia is looking for a new picture to add to the 'good boy' section," Carson says. "Do you think I should submit mine?"

Carson is a true water dog and is always ready for his next adventure. Trip to the lake? He's there. A day by the river? Say less. Don't want to leave home? He's down to splash in a kiddie pool. As long as he's with his people, he's game for anything!

"Some dogs dip their paw in first," says Carson. "I prefer a full commitment."

We were excited to welcome Nikki Dean from Piedmont Senior Resources Area Agency on Aging to the Francis E. Wood Studio today to talk about the 3rd Annual Petals & Paws Pet Walk!

Join the fun on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the High Bridge Plaza Caboose for a family-friendly day filled with food, vendors, music, and more, all while supporting PSR's Pet Program for homebound older adults and their pets.

We recently joined the Community Walking Visioning Tour in Downtown Farmville. Led by the BOOMS team from Place + Main Advisors, the tour brought community members together to explore downtown, discuss revitalization opportunities, and share ideas for the future of Farmville.

It was great to take part in this event alongside our community and see so many residents engaged in conversations about the future of downtown Farmville!

Warning: This Green Front Dog of the Week may steal your heart. Meet Selena! 🥹

This one-year-old Beagle/Terrier mix is 25 pounds of pure charm. Selena was rescued from a rural animal control facility. Since arriving at the Southside SPCA, she's blossomed into a happy, fun-loving girl who adores people.

"Making friends is always on my to-do list," Selena says, "And I'm pretty good at it!"

She's the perfect age, the perfect size and has all the makings of an incredible family companion. Her foster family says she's thriving: She loves accompanying them to work, meeting other dogs and showing off her good manners. She's crate trained, house trained, great on a leash and rides calmly in the car. It's no surprise her foster mom describes her as perfect.

"I'd like to think I'm the Mary Poppins of dogs: practically perfect in every way!" says Selena.
