A new gateway to Foley’s downtown arts alley will greet visitors on North Alston Street under plans approved by the City Council.

The council approved a professional services contract for WAS Design. Under the contract, the company will design a new entrance to Cat Alley from North Alston Street as part of the second phase of the project to improve the downtown walkway.

The Foley Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on South Juniper Street early Sunday morning. Officers were sent to the 1100 block after a report of gunfire. When they arrived, they found one victim with a gunshot wound.
