💡 Did you know BeLocal Georgetown was inspired by Leadership Georgetown?

This incredible program from the Georgetown Chamber Of Commerce gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at how our city works and introduces them to the people and programs that help our community thrive.

That experience gave our publisher Laura Capes Terry MBA the inspiration to bring BeLocal Magazine to Georgetown.

After hearing the City Manager say, “We cannot stop the growth, we can only manage it well,” Laura saw BeLocal as an innovative new way to help the city manage the growth well.

Five years later, BeLocal Georgetown is still welcoming new residents and quickly connecting them with trusted local businesses, resources and people that help Georgetown feel like home. 🏡

We loved having Ann Kaiser, our Director of Community Relations and a Leadership Georgetown graduate, represent BeLocal at this week’s Leadership Georgetown Annual Alumni Reception! 🤍

Could the Ku Klux Klan finally be held accountable?

In 1923, young district attorney Dan Moody secured the conviction of Klansman Murray Jackson for his role in the brutal attack on traveling salesman R. W. Burleson.

A Williamson County jury sentenced Jackson to the maximum punishment—five years in prison. The landmark Georgetown trial proved that even the powerful Klan was not above the law and helped propel Moody toward becoming attorney general and, eventually, governor of Texas.
