Update on Ellie Mae🐐🩷
You’re never going to believe this
but… there’s NO baby!😓
We had a vet come out because Ellie was late and we were getting very nervous for her. She ended up doing an ultrasound to see what was going on. Unfortunately, there were no babies in there. We couldn’t believe it!🤷♀️
She said Ellie experienced something called precocious udder.
Because she was bred, her hormones were telling her body that she was expecting. She even developed clear fluid in her udder and teats that the vet could squeeze out as if you were milking her. Her udder wasn’t very big but it was about the size of a baseball.
So I guess you can consider it to be a false pregnancy.
Ellie is doing fine.
All of our goats get tons of love and attention, but let’s just say that Ellie Mae may have been slightly more spoiled the past couple months than normal. She got lots and lots of extra lovin and affection lately.
Little stinker. We were so exited for this new adventure. Ultimately we are just happy and thankful that she is okay because bottom line that’s what truly matters most. 🙏
This is all unfamiliar to us as Ellie was our first goat that we have ever bred.
So no babies this time. We will have to wait until spring.
Have anyone ever heard of that or experienced this before?
