🔥 This is not the end of the story.
🎙️ It is the end of the podcast.
After a great deal of reflection, I want to be clear about what is changing and why.
🎧 The BugPod, as a podcast, is coming to an end.
The final episode will be released sometime next week.
There are two honest reasons for this.
📉 First, the format no longer fits the role I want to play. Podcasting requires constant reporting, reacting, and filling space even when silence, perspective, or patience would be healthier. With NIL, the transfer portal, and the chaos of modern college football, combined with my new role as an Ordained Deacon of the Catholic Church, I cannot do that faithfully anymore.
⚖️ Second, and very practically, I recently learned there is an existing trademarked and copyrighted product using the BugPod name. I have no interest in risking legal trouble, and that alone makes continuing the podcast under that name impossible.
So the podcast is ending.
🟢 But I am not quitting.
What is happening is evolution.
🌱 I am choosing to keep this alive in a different way, one with more freedom, more intention, and more meaning.
Going forward, once we wrap up the last episode, this will live on as 🐸 “Go Big Ribbit” 🐸 on my Facebook profile and YouTube page.
I will no longer be a reporter or analyst.
I will not comment on every game, every loss, or every outrage cycle.
Instead, you will occasionally see:
📝 short reflections
🎥 brief videos
💬 blurbs or comments
Only when something is worth remembering or naming.
My role now is this:
📖 Storyteller
🛡️ Steward
🕯️ Custodian of the values
What I love about Nebraska football has never been complicated.
🌾 I love that effort mattered.
🏗️ I love that teams were built over time.
🔁 I love that players stayed, developed, failed, and grew.
👣 I love that the walk-on tradition meant something real.
💪 I love that toughness, discipline, and accountability were expected.
❤️ I love that Saturdays were about belonging and eating way too many Runzas, not bitterness.
Those things are not statistics.
They are values.
They are a story.
🎵 As a songwriter with my Lucky Ducky stage persona and the Lucky Ducky Creek Band, I have been told again and again that I am a storyteller. Stories are how we remember. Stories are how we carry meaning forward without being trapped in the past.
I do not love the greed and lack of values in modern college football.
😔 I grieve the loss of continuity and loyalty.
🌽 But I still love the Huskers, the story they have told, and the stories they continue to write.
And I believe it matters that someone continues to hold the standard without feeding cynicism. That storyteller, steward, and custodian of values will continue to be me.
That is what Go Big Ribbit will be.
🚫 Not a podcast.
🚫 Not a brand.
🚫 Not a hot-take machine.
🕊️ A place for memory, perspective, and care.
🎙️ The BugPod as a podcast is ending.
🔥 The heart of it is not.
