THIS WEEKEND, GO RETRO! BACK SPINS 52 IS HERE! Notes From The Production Suite:

1. Wonderwall (ULTI-reMIX) - Oasis 92
Those cheeky Gallagher Bros., Noel & Liam have a “new” hit. Their ’95 alt. rocker has become a top global stream all over again! Stacy bumped up the sluggish tempo a tad, and added new heavily saturated funky drums and 808s.

2. Thong Song (Clean & Dirty) (ULTI-reMIX) Sisqo 121.5
Doc Roc revisited a 00s rhythmic staple and wrapped it in a modern Afrobeat blanket. Open format jocks and crossover mixshows now have a less-dated, early-to-peak hour jam for their sets.

4. Total Eclipse Of The Heart (ULTI-reMIX) - Bonnie Tyler 133
The magnificent Steinman-penned opus from ’83 is resurrected. This time it’s given an updated dance treatment at 133. Mark painstakingly edited the heck out of the track to keep it steady. He also replayed the keys to give it more of a fresh, contemporary sound. Although we recently lost Bonnie, her signature rasp is alive and well on the new Back Spins!

5. Losing My Religion (ULTI-reMIX) - R.E.M. 125.5
Mark transformed the melancholy rock song into a dance track. He reworked the bass and synths and added EFX galore!

6. Party All The Time (ULTI-reMIX) - Eddie Murphy 130
Brian went for an enhanced version of the original, keeping the main synth hooks and updating the drums & bass synths. Creative delay effects were added to the vocals, and an octave pitch on the vocal hook. The bass synth is designed to hit those sub tones that rattle your speakers.

7. Working For the Weekend (V1 & V2) - Loverboy 145 and 72.5/145/72.5
DeToto replaced the original drums with a breakbeat/rock-inspired drum pattern while retaining the original guitars, bass, and vocals. The original track’s cowbell and snare reverb were sampled throughout sections to enhance the remix’s energy and rhythmic impact.

9. Baker Street (ULTI-reMIX) - Gerry Rafferty 118
This classic yacht sets sail on a wave of signature sax! Mark beefed up the verse and chorus to complement that insanely-catchy sax solo. He kept the original strings intact, careful not to disappoint Captain Rafferty fans.

10. Some Like It Hot (ULTI-reMIX) - The Power Station 125.5
The side chick of DD was always more of a full-on rock project. Mark created a new groove with the OG bass line. He also added new synths and dance beats. But he kept the original drum fills. Now, everything fits nicely in the new groove.

11. Call On Me (ULTI-reMIX) - Eric Prydz 126
It’s been a minute since Strobe worked his production magic for Ultimix! We’re glad to welcome him back into the fold. For the Prydz dance staple from ’04, he added some subtle percussive elements and additional keys. But since the song is so recognizable, he colored within the lines.

THIS WEEKEND! ULTIMIX 353 has your Dance/Top-40 playlist already cued up! Notes From the Production Suite:

(1.) Been By Now (ULTI-reMIX) - Morgan Wallen 116
Hot off the heels of his monster collab with Ella Langley “I Can’t Love You Anymore” (UM 351), Wallen teases the first release from his upcoming fifth studio album. Mark bridges the gap nicely between pop and country with an instant mainstream mixshow add.

(2.) petal (Clean & Dirty) (ULTI-reMIX) - Ariana Grande 135
In its original form, this track has a strange time signature. It’s a ballad with a triplet rhythm. Stacy went to the lab and was able to masterfully craft a more straightforward-flowing dance track. Count on ULTIMIX for workable, more programmable mixes right out of the gate!

(4.) Loser - Tame Impala 83
Still basking in the worldwide success of “Dracula” (UM 345), Tame Impala a.k.a. Kevin Parker comes back hard and drops another alt. pop track from the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” flick. Stacy felt the OG was too minimalistic and bland. So he did a complete re-drum. He made an all new rhythm with heavy, saturated drums.

(5.) Animal (V1 & 2) - KATSEYE 150 and 75/150/75
Who would have thought superstar, Ed Sheeran would be a fan of K-Pop supergroup, KATSEYE?! He reached out to them after revealing his love for last year’s “Gnarly”. He said he was a fan and expressed interest in collaborating. They took him up on it and both camps loved how it turned out! Since the track is rather fast, Mark wanted to give DJs a few options when programming: 150 and 75/150/75.

(7.) Jaded - Koe Wetzel & Ella Langley 104
The hit country-rock duet from Koe & Ella now gets a proper mixshow-worthy version! A nice intro to the night at an open format club, or an early-to-peak mixshow set filler…ULTIMIX has you covered!

(8.) Freakin’ Out (ULTI-reMIX) - Dexter And The Moonrocks 136
Huda worked his magic and transformed this modern rock track into a more formidable dance floor filler.

(9.) Repeat It (ULTI-reMIX) - Martin Garrix & Ed Sheeran 130
The dance-pop track that’s become fast friends with Top-40 radio programmers, now gets a full-on FLA breaks treatment courtesy of Beat Thrillerz.

(10.) Danceteria (Clean & Dirty) (ULTI-reMIX) - Madonna 120
The song’s original drum track was replaced by a “Vogue”-inspired house production. DeToto then added new synth layers, transitional effects and vocal samples throughout. The result is amped up energy and a modernized production.

(12.) Ravers - Ellie Goulding 129
Goulding mines for dance-pop gold once again on her latest, “Ravers”.

(13.) Push It - Disco Lines & Maesic f. Mason & Princess Superstar 129
