VICTIM IDENTIFIED IN FATAL GUHN ROAD SHOOTING:

The man fatally shot Tuesday night at HomeTowne Studios, 5959 Guhn Road, has been identified as Marcus Washington.

Houston Police responded to the complex shortly before 10 p.m. and found Washington deceased on the top floor. HPD Lieutenant R. Wilkens said Washington was in his 50s and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

According to investigators, the shooting occurred in the hallway outside the apartments, not inside a unit.

Police say Washington was involved in an argument with two men believed to be around his age. The men were reportedly walking past and preparing to leave when words were exchanged. At least one of the men allegedly pulled a fi***rm and fired at least twice, striking Washington before the two men fled.

Police initially believed the suspects could still be inside the complex and established a perimeter while officers searched the property. Investigators now believe the suspects have likely left the area.

No weapon has been recovered, and no arrests have been announced.

Washington’s loved ones are now mourning his death and hoping the people responsible are identified and held accountable.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects is urged to contact the Houston Police Department.

This remains an active homicide investigation.

UPDATE: FAMILY REMEMBERS 31-YEAR-OLD FATHER FOUND DEAD IN THIRD WARD

The family of 31-year-old Jaleel Rahman is speaking out as they continue to process his violent death in Houston’s Greater Third Ward.

Rahman’s body was discovered by Houston police early Sunday morning after officers responded to an apartment complex on Anita Street following a report of gunfire and someone attempting to place a body into a trash can.

Investigators located Rahman inside an overturned trash can and followed a trail of blood leading toward an apartment unit. A tactical team was later called to the scene after a man inside the apartment refused to come outside.

Rahman’s family says they want people to remember him for who he was, rather than only for the disturbing circumstances surrounding his death. Family members described Rahman as a father who was also known in Houston’s rap scene.

His family believes people who were at the apartment may know what happened to him.

As of the latest update, one of the two men initially detained by HPD had been released. The other remained in custody on unrelated charges. No one has been publicly charged in connection with Rahman’s death at this time.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine exactly what happened and who is responsible.

Jaleel Rahman was more than the circumstances surrounding his death. He was a father, a son, a brother and a member of his community.
