Every January, diet culture resurfaces with louder rules and higher expectations—often framing the body as something to fix before spring.

In “Breaking Up With Diet Culture: Choosing Health That Lasts,” Forward Times Editir-In-Chief Chelsea Lenora Small reflects on completing the 75 Hard challenge, the clarity it offered, and the deeper realization that followed: discipline without compassion isn’t sustainable.

From a winless start to one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL, the Houston Texans’ 2025 season is a reminder that it’s not how you begin—it’s how you finish.

After opening the year 0–3, Houston surged to a 12–5 record behind a dominant defense, timely offense, and late-game heroics in the season finale against the Indianapolis Colts.

With a No. 5 playoff seed secured, the Texans now head into the postseason with momentum—and history within reach.

A closer look into the Chums, Inc. “Ink, Impact & Sisterhood” event, a 1940s-themed celebration marking 80 years of brilliance, beauty, and service, hosted at Forward Times headquarters.

Did you know? Chums, Inc. was founded in 1946 by three college friends who believed sisterhood could be a catalyst for service. What began as a social club grew into a nationally respected organization rooted in civic engagement, culture, and community uplift.

This milestone moment was especially meaningful as the event was hosted by Forward Times CEO & Publisher Karen Carter Richards ( ), who is also a proud Chums, Inc. member—making the historic Forward Times building not just a venue, but a true homecoming of shared legacy, leadership, and service.

As another year comes to a close, it’s important to acknowledge a truth many families live every day: caregiving is not for the faint of heart.

Family caregivers provide essential, often unpaid support to loved ones facing chronic illness, disability, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and advanced medical conditions.

They manage medications, monitor subtle health changes, advocate in medical settings, and make difficult decisions centered on safety, comfort, and quality of life.

This article reflects on caregiving as both an act of love and a form of advocacy—while emphasizing an often-overlooked truth:
caregivers must also care for themselves. Physical, mental, emotional, and financial health matter.
