In honor of Native American Heritage Month, this week's Featured Artist on KSUT is Cherokee singer/songwriter Ken Pomeroy. Her new album, Cruel Joke, has been a staple on Four Corners Public Radio ever since Ken appeared at this year's Telluride Bluegrass Festival. We'll be spinning songs from this album all week long. Then, at 11:08 Friday morning, Jim Belcher will play an extended set of music from Ken, pausing at the end of the set to pose his weekly trivia question. The first caller with the correct answer will receive a gift card redeemable at Steamworks Brewing Company, El Moro Spirits & Tavern, or Homeslice Pizza sponsors of the Featured Artist.

During the first hour of tonight's Tales Of The New West, host Chris Aaland begins his monthlong celebration of Native American Heritage Month with music from Robert Mirabal, Levi Platero, Ken Pomeroy, and more. He'll begin the night by opening The KSUT Vault for a couple of live recordings from Bill Miller from the 25th annual Four Corners Folk Festival. During the second hour, Chris will remember his father, Bill Raines, who died last Tuesday. Bill's record and cassette collection of the late 1970s and early '80s influences Chris as a DJ to this day. We'll hear from Willie Nelson, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jimmy Buffett, and more. Tune in to KSUT from 7-9 tonight and each Wednesday for Tales of the New West. You can stream us at www.ksut.org or on our new app, available for Apple and Android devices.
