During the first hour of tonight's Tales Of The New West, host Chris Aaland goes full-on redneck hippie by revisiting some classic '60s and '70s country-rock and folk-rock. He's doing so because today would've been the 80th birthday of drummer Michael Clarke, known for his work with The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Firefall. The night gets started when Chris opens The KSUT Vault at 7 p.m. for a couple of songs David Bromberg performed at a KSUT Session back in 2008. During the second hour, Chris cranks the Americana Jukebox for new music from Andy Thomas and Clay DuBose, plus old favorites from Merle Haggard & The Strangers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

During the first hour of tonight's Tales Of The New West, host Chris Aaland will travel to Texas on what would've been Don Williams' 87th birthday. We'll hear a couple from The Gentle Giant, plus other Texas Troubadours such as Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, and Nanci Griffith. Chris opens The KSUT Vault to start the show with two songs that bluesy Dallas singer/songwriter Season Ammons recorded at a KSUT Session a couple of years ago. During the second hour, Chris cranks up the Americana Jukebox for new music from Ryan Bingham & The Texas Gentlemen and Cat Clyde, plus old favorites from Jerry Reed and Bob Dylan. Join us from 7-9 tonight and each Wednesday for Tales of the New West on KSUT. You can stream us at www.ksut.org, try our app, tune in to one of our many FM signals around the Four Corners, or ask your smart speaker to play Four Corners Public Radio.

Tune in at 11:08 Friday morning as Jim Belcher will play an extended set from U2, pausing at the end of his set to pose his weekly trivia question. An icon, an iconoclast: Both terms apply equally to Miles Davis, who was born a century ago, on May 26, 1926.

He looms as large in the popular imagination as any jazz artist you can name.

In the lineage of jazz, Miles Davis, born 100 years ago, presents something of a paradox: He looms as large as anyone, but he means many things to many people.

Check out this remembrance of jazz great Sonny Rollins, complete with videos of some of his performances.

Rollins became beloved internationally as the last man standing, the reigning star of the generation that turned jazz from bluesy entertainment into a personally expressive, ever-changing art form — without losing its bluesy, entertaining side.

The legendary jazz saxophonist, who revolutionized the art of improvisation, died Monday at his home in Woodstock, N.Y.

The agreement allows the nearly 1,500-member tribe to handle its own business — without obtaining expressed permission from the feds to lease energy projects and issue right-of-ways on the 700,000-acre reservation near Durango.

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe in southwest Colorado sitting above the border of New Mexico has entered the first-ever TERA — or Tribal Energy Resource Agreement — more than two decades after Congress enacted the law.

Colorado bill SB20-83 prohibits ICE from making arrests at courthouses across Colorado. It also protects people while they are going to and from court.

But according to Enrique Orozco-Perez, the executive director of Compañeros Immigrant Resource Center in the Four Corners, the law was potentially violated in Durango last fall.

SB20-83 limits where ICE agents can make arrests connected to courthouses.
