Careful listening to ski resort marketing jargon related to fresh snow...

I’m standing at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort where it’s 34 degrees and raining. In my 15 years of reporting from the Tetons, I’ve never seen a gap like this: record-breaking rainfall at the base, yet record-breaking snow at 10,000ft.

While the "marketing loops" are showing you guided backcountry clips of pros in deep powder, the inbounds reality is a technical, heavy grind with rain up to 8,000 feet.

As a Level III Avalanche Pro and gear auditor, I believe in telling it like it is—"Teton Grit" means being real with the community.

The good news? A solid storm cycle is lining up for next week. Let’s hope the cold air follows. 🌨️💪

What are you seeing at your home hill? Is the marketing matching the conditions?

Let’s talk in the comments. 👇

There is a distinct difference between "just wearing socks" and having proper footwear for your home base. 🏠🐕

We’ve been testing the Kolo House Shoes from Topdrawer, and honestly? It’s hard to go back to regular slippers.

Here is the breakdown after a few weeks of wear:
✅ The Grip: The Italian suede sole is a game changer for hardwood floors. It’s grippy enough so you don’t slide around, but soft and quiet enough not to wake up the house.
✅ The Warmth: The faux-fur lining is instant heat, but the French corduroy breathes so you don't overheat.
✅ The Vibe: They actually look classy, not like the shredded foam slippers usually hidden in the closet.

If you treat your feet like gold on the mountain, you should treat them the same way when you get home.

Check out the full review and see why these are our new favorite recovery gear. 👇

Everyone asks me where to stay in Jackson Hole that doesn’t cost $1,500 a night but still feels special. This is it. 👇

I just wrapped up another "staycation" at Inn on the Creek, and honestly, I hesitate to share this because I don’t want my favorite room to get booked up!

Tucked away along Flat Creek (just 4 blocks from the Town Square), this B&B is the total opposite of the sterile luxury hotels popping up everywhere. It feels like visiting family—if your family offered massive in-room whirlpool bath tubs, fireplaces, and heated coffee mugs at breakfast.

A huge shoutout to Sarah, Hailey, and Nate. In a tourist town, it is rare to find staff that actually remembers your name and your preferences. That old-school Jackson hospitality is alive and well here.

My routine when I stay:
🍷 Evening wine & cheese by the creek.
🍪 Homemade cookies at 4:30 PM (I dare you to eat just one).
🛁 Soaking in the King Plus whirlpool bath room after a day on the hill.
If you are planning a trip to the Tetons and want a spot that feels authentic, cozy, and affordable, check out my full review.

There is nothing worse than waking up in a cold alpine hut and drinking terrible instant coffee. 🥶☕️

We’ve found the solution.

Kelsey Takeuchi put EYE Coffee to the test on a recent trip to Canada, and it’s a game-changer. These are single-serve, biobased pour-over pouches that actually taste like a café brew (we’re talking notes of milk chocolate and cardamom).

It’s lightweight, plastic-free, and definitely "Teton Tested" approved.

Goggle Coverage, Sunglass Freedom: The POC Devour Glacial Review

Ditch the sweaty goggles on the skin track. 🏔️ We tested the POC Devour Glacial sunglasses from the top of Mt. Glory to the fjords of Norway. With adjustable temples and heavy-duty side shields, these might be the ultimate one-quiver eyewear for backcountry skiers. Read the full review by Andie Cornish

Over the past few years, I have found myself spending more time in the backcountry than the resort, which means I have been trading my usual helmet and

Is this the only snowboard you need for 2026? 🏂

We just got off the mountain testing the brand new Never Summer Nokhu. We rode it in variable conditions at Grand Targhee—ice, crud, and hardpack—and it handled it all with ease.

If you are looking for a "Quiver of One" that floats in powder but still rips high-speed carves on groomers, you need to see this.
Highlights:

✅ Unmatched Edge Hold (Triple Camber Tech)
✅ Surfy, playful feel (5/10 Flex)
✅ Hand-built in the USA 🇺🇸
