Updated Information from the Tacoma Tribune: An atmospheric river is dumping rain on the Puget Sound region, causing flooding and power outages.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Wednesday for the Puyallup River in Puyallup and for South Prairie Creek in East Pierce County.
"Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas," the Weather Service said in an advisory. "Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding."
A half inch or more of rain was forecast for the Tacoma area through Wednesday and more rain in the forecast for Thursday, with wind gusts of up to 31 mph.
The News Tribune staff will be updating this story throughout the day with the latest weather-related news.

Flooding is expected along many rivers and streams in the region, and roads are being closed by standing water.

Had to Share: Just In: (Bloomberg) -- European leaders are increasingly confident they will reach a deal to use frozen Russian assets before the end of the year following talks in London, even as a gulf remains between Europe and the US on providing security guarantees for Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his allies made “positive progress” to use immobilized Russian sovereign assets to back a €90 billion ($105 billion) loan for Ukraine’s reconstruction, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office said following the meeting on Monday. European leaders were now optimistic an agreement could be reached before Christmas, according to people familiar with the matter.

A multi-stop celebration in South King County will mark the historic opening of three new Sound Transit Link light rail stops on Saturday, Dec. 6, including Kent-Des Moines, Star Lake and Federal Way.
A ribbon cutting will start off the day’s festivities at 9:30 a.m. at the Federal Way Downtown Station, located at the Federal Way Transit Center, 31911 23rd Ave. S. AWESOME!!

Tonight we will start to see the Last Full Supermoon of 2025 This month's full moon is often known as the "Cold Moon" to reflect the frigid temperatures that are common in the Northern Hemisphere this time of year and also as the "Moon Before Yule," as it is the last full moon before the Christmas period. The lunar milestone will take place as the moon passes within 90% of its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit — a point known as perigee — giving rise to a beautiful "supermoon" that can be up to 30% brighter and appear 14% larger than the smallest moon of 2025.
December's full moon will also occur in the closing phase of a "Major Lunar Standstill," a recurring 18.6-year event that sees the moon's orbit tilted at its most extreme angle relative to Earth's orbit. As a result, the lunar disk rises at a more northerly point on the horizon and soars higher than usual in the autumn sky.
