A great night in Ketchikan with some of the Alaska First Media crew.

Alaska First Media owner-operator Cliff Dumas, along with Russell, Tracy, Jisella and Mason, got together for dinner at Bush Pilot. Missing from the photo are Brittany and Devin, who were both a little under the weather.

A big thanks to the folks at Bush Pilot for the great food and hospitality. If you’re in Ketchikan, definitely worth a visit!

A little progress to share from Ketchikan.

We’re upgrading equipment, keeping up with ongoing maintenance, and beginning a full refresh of the Ketchikan Media Center, starting with the exterior walls you see here.

There’s plenty left to do. At Alaska First Media, we’re taking it step by step and putting the time and resources into giving our stations and the people behind them what they need to do their best work.

A big thank-you to our incredible Ketchikan team, led by General Manager Brittany Rickard. They keep things moving every day while all this work happens around them, and we’re grateful for the care they put into these stations and this community.

We also really want to thank Matt and his team at Brighter Days for their great work on the building. We highly recommend them! You can reach them at 907-617-2218.

And to everyone who listens to KTKN, Gateway 106, and KFMJ or supports us through their local business: thank you. We’ll keep you posted as the work continues.

It was Tuesday, September 11th, 2001.
Across America, people were getting ready for work. Children were heading to school. Morning television shows were on. The sky over New York was clear and blue.

Then, at 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

Seventeen minutes later, a second plane struck the South Tower.

A seemingly ordinary Tuesday morning had become a moment America would never forget.

Twenty-five years later, we remember where we were. We remember what we felt. And most importantly, we remember those who never came home.

To the moms who show up every day, even when they are tired. To the grandmothers, stepmoms, foster moms, aunties, sisters and friends who help raise, guide and protect.
To the women who love with patience, carry more than most people see, and somehow still find a way to give.

Thank you.

Mother’s Day is not just about perfect cards or perfect families. It is about recognizing the people who helped shape us, comfort us, challenge us and believe in us.

Today, we celebrate them with gratitude, honesty and love. Happy Mother’s Day.
