FIRST DEGREE MURDER ARREST
12/11/2025
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, at approximately 8:41am, the Gloucester County Emergency Communications Center received a call of a deceased male inside the Tri-Rivers ASAP office in the 3000 block of George Washington Memorial Highway. The caller reported that they passed another individual leaving the area and provided a description to the responding Gloucester County Sheriffโs Office deputies.
Deputies and criminal investigators were at the scene within minutes and located Mr. Branden Patrick Green, a 43-year-old male employee of Tri-Rivers ASAP, deceased inside from multiple gunshot wounds. Between evidence recovered at the scene and witness statements, GCSO investigators identified Steve A. Curry, a 66-year-old male resident of the 200 block of Riverwood Drive in Lancaster County, as the suspect. The investigation has determined that Mr. Green was known to the suspect and that this was not a random act of violence.
Due to the proximity to local schools and the initial unknown direction of the suspectโs flight, several schools in Gloucester were placed into a secure status. GCSO contacted the Lancaster County Sheriffโs Office, who located Mr. Curry at his residence at approximately 10:19am and took him into custody without incident. Additional evidence was recovered at the time of Mr. Curryโs arrest. He was turned over to the custody of Gloucester County investigators and transported to the Gloucester County Sheriffโs Office.
Mr. Curry has been charged with first-degree murder in violation of ยง18.2-31 and with using a firearm in the commission of a felony in violation of ยง18.2-53.1. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues. He is being held in the Gloucester County Jail without bond. His photograph from jail is attached to this release.
The Gloucester County Sheriffโs Office would like to thank our partners with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Field Operations and Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the Lancaster County Sheriffโs Office, the Tidewater Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms, and Explosives for their assistance with this incident. Our continued thoughts are with Mr. Greenโs family and loved ones.
Due to the active nature of this investigation, additional information will not be released at this time.
