The Lady Devils hold the event each year to raise money for breast cancer research and education projects. The event includes raffle prizes, a bake sale, commemorative t-shirt sales and an honor/memory walk. This year, the event was dedicated in memory of Ms. Angela Turner White, who worked in the LHS office for more than 20 years. The 2022 Dig Pink match also was dedicated in her honor, when she was in recovery from her first cancer diagnosis. The disease returned and she died in December 2024. Her family, including her son Tyler Colding, participated in the dedication ceremony.

The 30th anniversary Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta was dedicated to the memory of John McConnico, one of the founders of the regatta who crossed the bar earlier this year. Of the 77 boats registered for the regatta, 63 made it to the starting line on Saturday. No doubt the light wind forecast kept some competitors away.

As Saturday morning emerged the race committee (RC) faced a very light and spotty gradient west wind that was forecast to be replaced by a southeast bay breeze sometime in the afternoon. At the skippersโ€™ meeting, RC consultant Jerry Latell announced the 11 a.m. first warning would be delayed until 1 p.m.โ€”no sense having boats bobbing about the Rappahannock River for hours!
