From the first note of “Comfortably Numb,” it’s clear: David Gilmour doesn’t just play the guitar he speaks through it. That soaring, aching solo isn’t something anyone can imitate, no matter how skilled. Even Gilmour himself admits it’s a mystery how it all comes together.
“I don’t really know how it all comes together… It’s just a reflection of my taste how I want things to feel, how I choose to bend a note or phrase something,” he confessed.
Every bend, every sustained note, is instinct, emotion, and a lifetime of feeling fused into sound. And that’s why, even decades later, no one can play “Comfortably Numb” like Gilmour.
