🌟 Community Heroes in Action! 🌟
Mapleton Fire Department has gone above and beyond their call of duty. In an incredible act of kindness, they have stepped in to pay off all the outstanding student lunch balances at MGMS! This thoughtful gesture ensures that no child has to worry about their meal at school and reminds us all what true community spirit looks like. 🚒❤️

We invite our MGMS family and community to join the MGMS staff in applauding and thanking these everyday heroes. 👏👏👏

⏰ SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING 6PM Tuesday at Mapleton City. This special meeting is to canvass the election results and consider the ordinance to establish the RAP tax supported by the recent vote. While this meeting is often perceived as a technicality - and will be short - it is a key part of the democratic cycle that shows the influence of the people's will. I will cast my vote in alignment with the majority vote of our citizens - to support our local recreation, arts, and parks programming. Stay tuned for the details on how this program will be implemented and how citizens can be involved!

The loss of Firefighter/Paramedic Aaron White is deeply felt by our department. Aaron, who was tragically killed on November 9, 2024, in an accident in the Escalante area of Southern Utah, was a valuable member of our team. His positive attitude and infectious smile were a daily inspiration. His absence will be keenly felt. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.

⏰ CITY COUNCIL MEETING Wednesday @ 6PM at Mapleton City Hall. This week we have more items on the consent agenda than usual, most of which represent routine or budgeted purchases. For those interested in how our city budgets and spends money, we'll be reviewing the 2023-2024 audit report (for anyone concerned with how the City operates, this is a great chance to observe the transparency required through external audits and public reporting).

One public hearing item for the evening was on our agenda last month and was deferred to Wednesday - rezoning 3.1 acres at 780 South Main from A-2 to RA-1 with a TRD-R overlay. This is consistent with the general plan and surrounding development. Additionally, for those who wondered if 800 S would ever connect to Main - this is the opportunity to do so with a .74 dedication to the City!

For more info, check out the staff reports via the link in the comments. See you in person or online on Wednesday!

A few months ago, we requested citizen feedback regarding interest in a potential community center. The results of this survey were shared at the last City Council meeting, and the full survey result dashboard can be found here:

City leadership is discussing the various implications of these results, but no official plans or proposals are in place at this time.
