We’re thrilled to introduce Mapleton Community Theatre — a brand-new community theatre created by Mapleton, for Mapleton! This exciting new chapter brings live theatre right here to our hometown, led by passionate community members with over 80 years of combined experience ready to help this vision truly come to life.

This isn’t just a show — it’s the beginning of something that will connect neighbors, inspire creativity, and knit our community together for generations to come. 💙

⏰CITY COUNCIL MEETING on Thursday 6PM at Mapleton City. *Note that this meeting is on Thursday instead of Wednesday*

The agenda is heavily administrative, but I'm particularly excited we're kicking off our city planning for America250 Utah (https://america250.utah.gov/). Next year, the Nation will celebrate our 250th birthday, and each state has been asked to join in. Utah was an early adopter and has issued the challenge to cities, along with a toolkit of ideas to bring communities together. (I particularly dig the America's Potluck on July 5, 2026 - everyone has a meal with their neighbors!) Stay tuned for details on getting involved in the planning process.

You'll see a few clean-up ordinances for Public Safety. With the announcement of Chief Jackson's retirement, we opted to hire a new police chief first and reserve the opportunity to hire a Public Safety Director as we look at our long-term planning. Chief Jackson was in a dual role, and we are interviewing this week for the replacement police chief. Big shoes to fill, folks. BIG.

Speaking of big shoes, this will be our final City Council meeting with Mayor Hakes and Councilmember Carlson.

It has been an honor to serve alongside Reid Carlson over the past six years. Reid has given Mapleton an extraordinary gift through his generous investment of time and resources, his sharp scientific mind, quick wit, and - most importantly - his deeply compassionate heart. I love him dearly and am profoundly grateful for his mentorship, steady leadership, and yes… his legendary car collection. Mapleton is better because of his service. Thank you, Reid.

Mayor Hakes is one of the reasons I was inspired to throw my hat in the ring. I was - and continue to be - energized by his vision, inspired by his intellect, and motivated by his steady, principled leadership. Without question, he has been the right leader at the right time for Mapleton. His legacy is one of innovation and strategic action, grounded in quiet service and remarkable generosity. I also honor the entire Hakes family - especially Kara - for their shared sacrifices and unwavering support. Together, they strengthened our “Small Town, Big Heart” culture, met challenges head-on, and helped build a foundation that will benefit generations of Mapletonians. We are truly in your debt. Thank you.

Today is the final day for kids to drop their letters into Santa’s Mailbox at City Park to make sure Santa’s helpers can send a reply back! 🎅💌

Be sure each letter includes a return envelope with the address already on it, so Santa knows exactly where to send his message. Then let your little one drop it in the mailbox and let the magic happen. ❄️

Mapleton City has plans to build a bike park on city-owned land between Harmony Ridge and Mapleton Village, and has secured grant money from two entities to fund much of the project.
