Rain returns to the region tomorrow and it could be quite wet through Saturday, especially the closer you are to the mountains.

Temperatures at 8:50 this morning does a good job at showing how microclimates can impact readings this time of the year.

Even though we have prevailing southerly winds, sheltered areas tend to cool down differently.

Drought monitor has been updated as our coverage area remains in Moderate Drought (D1) with an upgrade to Severe Drought (D2) now in effect from areas just east of Charlotte northward to the Triad. There is also D2 conditions assigned for Southwestern NC roughly from the Balsams to Murphy.

DO NOT burn outdoors while these conditions are in place. 🔥🚫
