This week we’re shining the spotlight on Local 400’s Training Director, Dave Brazzale, who began serving in this role on December 8, 2025. Dave oversees, guides, and supports all full-time training staff while continuing to strengthen and grow the Training Department to meet the evolving needs of apprentices, members, contractors, and end users. He focuses on providing high-quality training and instruction, adapting educational methods to industry advancements and technology updates, and promoting a culture of safety, quality, and productivity both in the classroom and in the field.
Dave brings decades of experience to the position, having worked on hospitals, schools, office buildings, stadiums, food plants, fabrication shops, paper mills, power plants, and a wide range of industrial and commercial piping projects. Prior to this role, he served as a Journeyman Steamfitter, Foreman, and Labor Coordinator.
A proud UA member since 1999, Dave has dedicated much of his career to supporting and advancing the trade through service on the Steamfitter Examining Committee, Advisory Committee, Green Bay Steamfitter JAC, and Negotiating Committee, as well as serving as a Night School Instructor. He is a graduate of the Steamfitter Apprenticeship and the Ann Arbor UA Instructor Training Program.
When asked what drives his passion for the trade, Dave shared, “In the Pipe TRADES we, TRADE information, TRADE ideas, TRADE knowledge, and TRADE skills.” He encourages all members to continue sharing their knowledge and skills with apprentices and co-workers to help strengthen the future of the industry.
