This week we’re shining the spotlight on Local 400’s Training Director, Dave Brazzale, who began serving in this role on December 8, 2025. Dave oversees, guides, and supports all full-time training staff while continuing to strengthen and grow the Training Department to meet the evolving needs of apprentices, members, contractors, and end users. He focuses on providing high-quality training and instruction, adapting educational methods to industry advancements and technology updates, and promoting a culture of safety, quality, and productivity both in the classroom and in the field.

Dave brings decades of experience to the position, having worked on hospitals, schools, office buildings, stadiums, food plants, fabrication shops, paper mills, power plants, and a wide range of industrial and commercial piping projects. Prior to this role, he served as a Journeyman Steamfitter, Foreman, and Labor Coordinator.

A proud UA member since 1999, Dave has dedicated much of his career to supporting and advancing the trade through service on the Steamfitter Examining Committee, Advisory Committee, Green Bay Steamfitter JAC, and Negotiating Committee, as well as serving as a Night School Instructor. He is a graduate of the Steamfitter Apprenticeship and the Ann Arbor UA Instructor Training Program.

When asked what drives his passion for the trade, Dave shared, “In the Pipe TRADES we, TRADE information, TRADE ideas, TRADE knowledge, and TRADE skills.” He encourages all members to continue sharing their knowledge and skills with apprentices and co-workers to help strengthen the future of the industry. Please join us in welcoming Local 400’s new Training Coordinator, Tom Adams, who officially started on March 30, 2026. Tom brings a strong background in the pipe trades, along with a passion for training and mentorship.

In this role, Tom is responsible for overseeing unpaid related training, instructors, and curriculum, as well as updating paid related curriculum where necessary. He is currently working on implementing new technology in the classroom and assisting apprentices with class enrollment, helping ensure our training programs remain modern, effective, and accessible.

Prior to this position, Tom served as a Senior Plumbing Designer and brings over 10 years of field experience, including four years as a foreman. He specialized in designing plumbing systems using Revit, coordinating projects, and preparing fabrication for shops.

Tom has been a proud UA member since 2014 and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the trade through his involvement on several committees. He previously served on the Education Fund Committee for UA Local 400 and the IAPMO Testing Committee, and he currently serves on the IAPMO Education Planning Committee.

His accomplishments include being named the 2019 Wisconsin State Plumbing Champion, as well as contributing to the IWSH Community Plumbing Challenge for the Navajo Mountain Chapter. Through that effort, he helped bring potable water and built septic systems for communities that previously did not have access to these essential services.

Tom is a certified Master Plumber and brings both technical expertise and leadership to his role. As he shared, “The most essential work of a leader is to create more leaders.” We are excited to have him on board and look forward to the impact he will make in developing the next generation of our industry.
