At about 8:30am Wednesday morning, the Stanislaus County Courthouse and the City of Modesto/Stanislaus County Administration building were evacuated after reports of a bomb threat. Police and fire personnel responded, and after about two hours both buildings were cleared to resume normal business. Police officials say the investigation continues and the person behind the threat could face serious charges.

Police investigate a fatal collision involving a pedestrian Friday morning at 14th and I Streets in Modesto. Early reports indicate the involved vehicle left the scene.

Authorities on Wednesday identified 3 individuals involved in the kidnapping and murder of Avtar Singh, who in February was taken from a Gurdwara in Tracy and found dead 3 days later near Lake Berryessa. The three suspects were last seen in Vallejo, but are said to have ties to Mexico. Singh’s case is said to be one of mistaken identity, and the actual targeted person was in Canada at the time of the kidnapping.

Firefighters battle the Gann Fire near New Hogan Lake despite challenging weather condition and rough terrain. The fire, being fought from both the ground and air, has burned over 7,000 acres as of Wednesday morning.

A 62 year old motorcyclist died after suffering injuries in a collision with a semi on Harbor Boulevard in Stockton Sunday afternoon. The crash happened shortly after 3:30pm near South Los Angeles Avenue.

Stanislaus County Sheriff Investigators gather evidence at a crime scene near River Road and Seventh Street in Modesto. No further details have been released as of this post, but more information is anticipated in the near future.

Earlier this week: 20 year old Zachariah Knobel appeared in court after a crash that claimed the life of one person. Officials with California Highway Patrol charge Knobel with several felonies including DUI after they say he fled an officer who tried to stop him for high speeds before colliding into a home at Robin Hood Drive and Tuxford Lane, killing an occupant. We also spoke with the previous owner of the home who say this wasn’t the first time it happened. Knobel is due back in court in July.
