For decades, Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) distributed federal funds to public media stations like WQPT, helping these stations serve their communities and provide quality resources for every American. Today, CPB has voted to dissolve following the loss of federal funding after over half a century of service.
While we are saddened by their loss, WQPT and other public media organizations will continue to serve our community thanks to donations from viewers like you.

Our Story

What began as a vision by a small group of dedicated citizens in 1983—with just four hours of daily programming—we now reach more than half a million viewers with access to our programming delivered across via traditional methods as well as live streaming and on-demand delivery. In addition to our primary public television channel, we also broadcast a secondary channel—Deutsche Welle.

Today WQPT PBS is nationally recognized as an innovative PBS affiliate station for its forward-thinking, strategic approach and cost-saving measures including curated services such as master control operations, programming direction and digital services. This stewardship has created a fiscally solid organization, able to provide programs and educational outreach services to the region for future generations.
