Fatal Traffic Crash
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on northbound I75, south of Post Road, in Frenchtown Township. The crash was reported on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 12:10 p.m.
Preliminary investigation reveals Carli M. Fuciarelli, age 26, of Westland, Michigan, was operating a
black 2016 Lincoln MKZ, northbound on I-75, in the left lane of travel. Accompanying Ms. Fuciarelli was Brandon R. Locklear, age 26, also of Westland, Michigan, who was a front seat passenger.
While in motion, Walter L. Wilhelm, age 76, of Chesterfield, Michigan, was operating a white 2010
Chrysler Town and Country minivan in the middle lane of travel, adjacent to the 2016 Lincoln. As both vehicles continued northbound on I-75, the 2010 Chrysler sideswiped the 2016 Lincoln, who then drifted off of the freeway, striking the median wall coming to a controlled stop. After the crash, the 2016 Lincoln also came to a controlled stop within the median.
When the collision occurred, Ms. Fuciarelli, Mr. Locklear, and Mr. Wilhelm were wearing safety belts. There was no airbag deployment in either vehicle.
It was witnessed and reported Mr. Wilhelm was suffering from an alleged medical emergency when the crash occurred. Mr. Wilhelm was transported to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital in Trenton, Michigan, where he was pronounced deceased. Ms. Fuciarelli and Mr. Locklear were not injured, and were released from the scene.
Members of the Frenchtown Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Chaplain Program and Victim Services Unit assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Lieutenant Brian Quinn and Deputy Sheriffs Cody Carena and Steven Warren of the Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7548.
