The music world is mourning the loss of one of their own. Dennis Locorriere, who rose to fame as a member of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show - later known as Dr. Hook, has died - this according to The Independent and several other sources.

Trying to label Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show - or define the band’s distinct sound - often proved difficult. The group blended country, rock, soul, pop, and even touches of disco into a style that became uniquely their own. Between the names Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show and later simply Dr. Hook, the band scored more than a half dozen Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits and became one of the most recognizable radio acts of the 1970s.

As the band’s charismatic frontman, Locorriere was widely respected for both his unmistakable vocal delivery and his songwriting talent. His warm, soulful voice helped turn songs like “Sharing the Night Together,” “When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman”, “Sexy Eyes”, and “Better Love Next Time” into international hits. The band also earned acclaim for fan favorites such as “The Cover of the Rolling Stone” and “Sylvia's Mother”, songs that showcased both humor and emotional depth.

Beyond his success with Dr. Hook, Locorriere earned admiration throughout the music industry as a gifted songwriter. His compositions were recorded by legendary artists including Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, further cementing his reputation as an artist whose influence extended far beyond the band’s chart success.

Locorriere who had reportedly been battling kidney disease was 76 at the time of his passing. His memory will live on through his music. Our thoughts are with DR HOOK Starring Dennis Locorriere, his family and friends.
