With all the localized flooding today, I want to remind everyone to not cross flooded roadways. Your car could stall. You don't know if the road iw washed out underneath the water. Please.. Turn around, don't drown.

Be smart, stay alert

WIND UPDATE: With incoming storms, the potential for 80mph+ gusts may clip northern Ford, Iroquois and Livingston Counties.

This is not a guarantee for getting these intense winds, but if you get storms in your area, this is the maximum expected potential wind gusts storms could have. Storm chances are highest today north of I-74, and less likely south.

Please be weather aware today and tomorrow. Don't let it catch you off guard

There's a LOT of atmospheric fuel across the state, but we might scrape through today without tapping into it. This amount of instability is literal turbo-jet fuel for storms, allowing them to rapidly become severe.

The good news is we have a cap over the atmosphere which will prevent storms largely from firing. But, should even one form today/tonight, it can be a big problem.

It's much like cooking on the stovetop. If you leave the lid on, it keeps things from boiling over, but at a certain point the boiling can turn violent and spill over the lid, making a big mess. Same principle with storm chances today. Hope the lid stays firm.

Missed the tornado in Hoopeston by just minutes. Followed the storm for a bit until it died out then headed back north to intercept storm #2. While the second one didn't produce, it had some cool structure. Fun day for a backyard chase. Just wish I could've headed out sooner (I was at work)
