Today we are promoting Roman Archaeological Heritage in Morocco. 🏛️
In collaboration with The Morocco Association for Natural and Cultural Heritage this initiative shares the history, culture, and architecture of Roman sites such as Volubilis, Banasa, Lixus, and Tamuda through videos, booklets, workshops, and guided tours—making Morocco’s Roman past accessible to both the public and professionals.

We are happy to introduce the Cyrene Conservation Initiative. 🏛️
Funded by the ECL Grant, in collaboration with ASOR and the Libyan Department of Antiquities, this project is protecting and studying the World Heritage Site of Cyrene—a remarkable Greco-Roman city shaped by its natural landscape. The initiative focuses on safeguarding the Sanctuary of Apollo and its surrounding terraces from erosion and flooding, ensuring the preservation of this extraordinary site for future generations.

Today we are highlighting one of the many projects supported by the ECL Grant: the Aquinum Excavation Project. 🏺

Once a thriving Roman colony and birthplace of the poet Juvenal, Aquinum remains one of the last ancient cities still buried beneath the earth. With ECL support, researchers from Roma Sotterranea and the Università del Salento are uncovering its hidden structures—revealing the stories of a city shaped by art, trade, and time.

The American Institute for Roman Culture is proud to highlight one of the many projects supported by the ECL Grant: the conservation of the Column of Marcus Aurelius. 🏛️

Standing nearly 30 meters tall, this monument tells the story of the emperor’s campaigns in stunning relief. Our team is creating an ultra-high-resolution 3D record of the column—preserving every detail, from chisel marks to centuries-old weathering, for generations to come.

Done in collaboration with Soprintendenza Speciale Roma and Consorzio Futuro Ricerca (CFR) at the Università degli Studi di Ferrara
