Got up super dooper early to get started on the typical Tuesday morning workload. Really focused on mic technique while inserting voice overs for branding ZipCodeZero. The biggest challenge is to make it natural sounding as possible BEFORE adding compression. That includes matching the inflection to blend into existing vocal.

Finished Tuesdays tasks in record time!
A few thoughts...
Being involved with the whole independent/DIY music community, music submitted for airplay presents some unique challenges. First and foremost, recording quality. Many submissions don't get accepted because of things like baking the high end (3k is the biggest offender) and balanced levels thru out the recording. I have gotten more than a few tracks where the kick drum will go from too far in front of the mix to disappearing completely. I have to say however, a majority of DIY recordings are studio quality and nicely packaged.

Another stacked morning! Besides editing/branding ZipCodeZero, producing/branding news and weather, a .cue (playlist w/track time) file had to be manually created because of operator error. A little time consuming but everything was done and distributed before noon. Whew! how 'bout another pot 'o coffee?

Whew! Whirlwind morning here on the production desk! ZipCodeZero was 8 minutes over, I normally go 6 over because the ads get cut and I like to have about 2 minutes for some headroom cutting out the tongue traps and head slaps. News and Weather are routine so all was tagged and shipped by 11:30 am.

Typical Tuesday morning. Show edited, timed and shipped. Daily news, weather recorded and shipped. All before noon, so I celebrated with an extra cookie. Sooper Dooper shoutout to Sweetwater for sending my Behringer UV1 channel strip so quickly. A must have tool for voice tracking and production.

Interesting editing today. Last nights show was interrupted by a power outage about 10 minutes in. After restarting, had to estimate about where to pick up the rotation. Stitched both files together and got lucky. Trim and branding were fairly normal. Expletives were extra salty!

About Tailwind Audio

Tailwind Audio started out as a hobby studio sometime in 2008. After realizing that local artists needed a resource for their social media endeavors, equipment was upgraded and multi tracking was made available to musicians on a budget. This lead to another realization that independent artists were not getting exposer outside of social media so Code Zero Radio was launched in 2012 and a re investment was made for broadcasting equipment. So that is Tailwind Audio Production today. An umbrella facility for recording, audio production and broadcasting. Have a look at the website and stop in for a cup sometime.
