At the northern end of the valley where the valley narrows and turns west, Calistoga blends rustic, relaxed wine country with hot springs, mud baths and a downtown that still feels like 1880s California.

What if great wine starts with doing less?

At MAHA Estate, Cris Cherry and his team are letting the land lead the way. Their 13 acres of dry-farmed, biodynamic vines grow among the rugged limestone hills, oak forests and chaparral of Paso Robles’ Adelaida District.

Instead of forcing each block to produce a predetermined style, they observe, adapt and let the vines find their own balance.

For MAHA, farming isn’t about controlling the land. It’s about listening to it—and trusting that it has something meaningful to say.

A lot of warm-weather drinks start out with citrus, which ripens in winter. But the quintessential summer fruit is watermelon.

This watermelon Tequila cooler taps into a real summer vibe and is simple to make, as the fruit is among the easiest to juice. Just remove the rind, cut the meat into cubes, run through a blender, and strain.
