I want to know - do y’all want to see my journey of building a small business?

A lot of people started to follow me because of my budgeting, but life evolved, and so did my content.

Now, since being laid off, and unemployment only being $275/week, I can’t help but to think that between content creating, and making my own products, surely I can make that on my own, plus some.

I’m realizing after watching so many other women entrepreneurs in the handmade space, they have multiple streams of income - not just one. So, that’s my goal. To build on the income streams I already have.

October is the first month I’m going to feel a loss. It’s the first month without income from an employer. It’s on me now, until I can build my business, or find another 9-5.

With so much conversation happening right now about 🍇 at Cornell, what are we teaching our sons?

I have a son, too. And I hope I’ve taught him to recognize when something isn’t right, to speak up when his friends are saying or doing things that harm women, and to never stand by and look the other way (people like that aren’t your friends, anyways).

Our daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, friends…shouldn’t have to become experts in surviving men.

We should be raising boys who know better - and who have the courage to speak up when other boys don’t.

We shouldn’t have to deal with creepy men who make such disgusting comments to young girls.

Figuring out how to keep daughter’s riding dreams alive, while navigating her horse’s kissing spine diagnosis. She’s starting her first real job with a paycheck, and learning how to budget her own paycheck, all while we’re trying to figure out what comes next.

I feel like everyone needs to see the back of a thrift store at least once.

Because THIS is why I thrift.

Everything you’re looking for probably already exists. The clothes. The dishes. The picture frames. The furniture. The toys. The kitchen stuff. The weird little thing you’ve had on your wishlist for six months.

Someone already bought it. Someone already used it. And eventually, a lot of it ends up here.

This is the back of ONE thrift store. Just ONE. Look at how much stuff is waiting to be sorted and given another chance.

We live in a world that constantly convinces us we need the newest version of everything. New clothes every season. New decor every trend. New furniture because the internet decided our old furniture isn’t cute anymore.

Meanwhile, there are literal mountains of perfectly good things that already exist.

And maybe that’s why thrifting has completely changed the way I shop. I don’t automatically think “where can I buy this?” anymore.

I think, “I bet this already exists somewhere. I just have to find it.”

And honestly? The waiting makes finally finding it SO much better. 🥹

There is already enough stuff in this world. Give the old stuff another chance before we make more.
